time to bring Hales in from exile, with Stokes, Mills and Archer back in the fold as well we should have a good chance on the bouncy Australian wickets....... There’s no way Hales plays under Morgan and I doubt the next Captain will play him. Goose cooked I reckon unfortunately Agree about Hales. Archer was a massive miss for us. A bowler that can bowl equally well in the opening power play and at the death is a massive asset. The other bowler we miss is Plunkett - who could bowl mid innings and pick up a wicket or two. This is so important. You ideally don’t want to be heading into the death overs with established batsmen at the crease.

I have a nightmare scenario coming up. Whereby… Australia beat Pakistan tomorrow then hump NZ in the final then… bash us senseless in the Ashes. NIGHTMARE!!!

This is a great article. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59235197It sums up how you can be a winning team without being a brash, unpleasant, over-competitive one. Definitely something about NZ which breeds generally good people and, obviously, some incredible sportspeople.

Definitely something about NZ which breeds generally good people and, obviously, some incredible sportspeople. There is nothing special about New Zealand generally. But, the current crop of cricketers starting with Brendon McCullum‘s captaincy and continuing under Kane Williamson’s leadership is truly exceptional in terms of sportsmanship. A case in point yesterday… late in the game Daryl Mitchell, after inadvertently blocked Adil Rashid, preventing Rashid fielding the ball of his own bowling, turned down the easy single that was on offer. Not something you see everyday. Certainly not at a critical stage in a huge game. They really are a team to be admired.

Only 5 million people in NZ and they produce the consistently best Rugby Union team in the world, have won the first World Test Championship, now reached the T20 WC final, produced probably the best all-rounder cricket has ever seen in Richard Hadlee, they're excellent rowers, their netball team is World Champions...the list goes on, all without being arrogant and nearly always playing the game in the right spirit.
Pretty special generally.

The moment the Aussies survived that umpires call at 1/1 they were destined to win that. Small margins.......

That Hassan Ali dropped catch in the deep was a killer blow

Hats off to Australia.
That was a sensational run chase.
So similar to yesterday’s game when some brilliant six hitting won the game when it seemed earlier the game would be beyond them.
Those 3 successive sixes by Wade to win the game was a magic moment.
A thought for Hassan Ali. That was a costly drop.

Almost a carbon copy of yesterday’s game, another superb game of cricket.
Devon Conway has been ruled out of the final due to a broken hand, sustained when he punched his bat after getting out yesterday. He must be gutted but I imagine some of his team mates are less than thrilled with him.

Pretty special generally. Not often you see the words “All Blacks” and sportsmanship in the same sentence… unless it’s accompanied by the words “lack of”. And Richard Hadlee the best all-round cricketer cricket has ever see? That’s a wee joke, right?

Richard Hadlee wasn't even the best all rounder of his era, Ian Botham, Imran Khan and KapilDev were better, Hadlee was the best bowler of the four though. Sir Garfield Sobers is probably the best of all time as an all rounder. Jacques Kallis is the most underated all rounder of all time in my opinion.
New Zealanders are no better than anyone else in sportsmanship, they can be bad losers, cheats and dirty, however this particular cricket team set a good example as to how the game should be played. Hopefully they can win the cup as Australians winning anything is not an enjoyable watch.

I'm sorry but Williamson coming in at 3 knowing the importance of the powerplay is mental.

I'm sorry but Williamson coming in at 3 knowing the importance of the powerplay is mental. In this tournament teams seem to have reverted to prioritising avoiding losing wickets in the power play rather than scoring heavily, instead looking to go big at the end. I think this is because they’ve decided scores of 160+ is their target and they want to avoid something around 130 and they can reach 160+ with a relatively quiet power play. The semi finals would suggest that approach may not always work!

He's mugging me off now like an absolute boss as well. 😳 I still think he could have come in at 2 down if they'd sent in a pinch hitter to maximise men in the circle.

Pretty good effort, you’d think, from New Zealand. 172 will take some getting.
But, both semis saw similar 1st innings totals and both got chased down.
Let’s hope it doesn’t happen now.
