I live in Cambridge and have a quarter of a tank of petrol
I just don't think I dare risk it given the chaos across the country
What on earth has this country come to - first time ever I have missed a match because of crass stupidity

The motorway services will be topped up if nothing else.
Get yourself up here for gods sake.

Spoke to someone about an hour ago who filled up fine at Shap/Tebay or wherever. On way down from Scotland and was a bit worried. Said was 2 or 3 cars

I'm not sure it's fair to blame people for reacting to some localised shortages that have been made into headline news. But I digress, call me a cynic but you'd think the motorway service stations would have been prioritised for supply given that they charge the most.

Mozzers in Market Drayton is carnage, full of the 'me first' brigade Shell garage has no fuel and nothing at Tern Hill. The world has gone bonkers! Just called on few favours and begged a lift.

Yes this and they dont want cars running out of petrol and stopped on the motorway plus they also have much more storage than your local garage. If I had been worried myself I'd have just got up at 6am to fill up or gone last night at 11pm when the numpties are all at home.

I've bollocked loads this morning queuing for fuel. Bloody idiots. Just like the idiot who shouted there’s not a fuel shortage at me last night as I was queuing for petrol. Well there was a fuel shortage for me as the petrol warning light had just come on the dashboard and I’m at the same petrol station around the same time each week. Grow up you fool.

I’ve probably got 1/4 tank but no chance I’m showing my arse and queuing for petrol as I’ll send the wife instead.
Joking apart I’ll chill out and have a beer listening to the match.

The first sensationalist headline was in yesterday’s Sun so I hardly think that’s fair. I’m setting off now as you guys say I’m sure the motorway stations will be ok 🤞

Everyone sees themselves as “just sensibly topping up” and everyone else as “panic buying”!

Our glorious govt are thinking of getting foreign drivers back to help us out of the shit! I know what my reply would be! Some will be like you and give the government a two fingered salute. But many (understandably) will take the line that if they can get paid more for a few months work in the UK than they can in their own country, they'll apply for a temporary visa to work here until Spring. What annoys me is that everyone in the haulage industry says this has been a problem which has been 10 years in the making. The average age of UK HGV drivers is apparently now 57 - so it has been obvious for years that problems were in the offing. As soon as the pandemic struck and we started to cancel HGV tests, that was the time we should have offered EU HGV drivers temporary visas to come here - and we should have been doing what we could to persuade older drivers to delay retirement (tax incentives?) until the problems caused by the pandemic were over. But, not for the first time, this government takes too long to make decisions which deep down it should know are going to be inevitable.

Panic buying and stressing about bog roll is what makes us British!. All power to the wagon drivers, long overdue some recognition! Now to get the trusty Vespa out for the journey from Stafford, only 2 litres of fuel required, park outside the ground, miss the match?? Never!!
