Wrong. If you think I was making reference to the OP then you’ve missed the mark big time. There certainly are agendas on here, as much as those harbouring them will deny it. No I don’t think you were. That’s my whole point. You clearly didn’t read it. If you had you couldn’t possibly wonder how the thread wasn’t about praising Davies. 🤦♂️😂 My comment was about those saying Davies shouldn’t start in the next game. You’re either not very bright or are being purposefully obtuse…

Nice problem to have....... Yeah it's the only area of the pitch other than maybe lwb where we have options that don't really weaken the side. We need more of this.

It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of people on here who blindly want to keep persevering with Bursik. And that's not a criticism of Bursik as he is a good young goalkeeper with a load of potential but Adam Davies right now is the better goalkeeper. Period.
Bursik had one of the worst stop % in the league last season, he has one of the worst stop % in the league this season. That doesn't mean he's a bad goalkeeper because he has alot of other great qualities and he is also very young.
But let's talk about Davies for a second.
- Has the best GA/90 out of all our goalkeepers in 19/20 and 20/21 - Has the best shot save % out of all our goalkeepers in 19/20 and 20/21 - At 29 years old is in his prime in terms of goalkeepers. - Was our starting goalkeeper last season when we had playoff form at the start of the season. - Got unlucky with an injury and has never really had an opportunity to win the shirt back.
I'm sorry guys but in my opinion if this is anyone's shirt to lose then it's Adam Davies. He's hardly put a foot wrong the least couple of seasons and deserves a run in goal. As has been said, the defence has alot more confidence in him.
Yes it's a shame as it means a good young goalkeeper is going to lose game time. But I'm sorry, I personally think our best chance of promotion is with Davies in goal and that promotion should be our main priority.

I like and rate Bursik… but our best form last 2 seasons has been with Davies on goal, a calming influence on back line and edges It just for me.
That said I guess if mon sees Bursik as long term no 1 then I understand why he’s playing him.
He’s cost us goals recently mind- he should’ve been better positioned for the Huddersfield one. The derby one he’d lost his head.
Still- if he keeps his place it’s the least of our worries.
Bloody good problem to have as both ate decent

But we're in a position where we can challenge and we should be playing our Strongest XI when possible not the Best Potential XI. What argument is there to play Bursik other than "potential".

Davies for me. Age and potential should have nothing to do with it.
Davies is the better keeper and makes the defence generally more solid. We are trying to get promoted here, not a training ground for players to get big transfers.
I dont understand the age and potential argument at all. We want the best 11 players on the pitch regardless of age! That is Davies in goal he has never let us down

So he should have 3-4 years at least you’d think. I hope Bursik can become outright No1 and stay at stoke for many years to come, but as you say, Davies has always been very good and sometimes brilliant, so let’s give him a run.

Honestly, I couldn’t give a monkeys about stats. Again never been any different and don’t hide it. Bursik is imo better at command and kicking, Davies is a better shot stopper but I don’t think he’s let any in this season he should have saved bar the second against Derby. I think the difference is marginal in terms of their overall contribution. I don’t see it as developing him, I think he’s an equal who has a chance of becoming something that could either get us promoted or earning us 10-20m pounds in transfer fees or both. So from an equalish footing talent wise now and with that projection he has I think you stick with him. He hasn’t been an issue this season bar one game. That’s the bottom line imo.

We have always played better with Davies in the team and as an earlier poster pointed out the stats don't lie - Davies is a better keeper. Feels weird to keep your best goalie out the team because of possible potential of the younger lad, especially when Davies has 4-5 years to go in his prime

We’ve mainly been good with Bursik in the side this season. I don’t think there’s correlation in the slightest between the two may I add! The young goalie as well could easily make us 20m quid if we do it right. I don’t think that potential is to be sniffed at. And yes it’s not guarantee but he’s definitely earmarked for England. We’ve got to give him the platform to get there.

Round about the time Bursik came into the fold (not his fault btw). Davies was our main goalkeeper for 2020 where we recorded the most cleansheets in the whole English Football League. You need to give the man a bit more respect. I usually appreciate the thought and arguments you put across in your posts, even if sometimes controversial. He does have better distribution I will give you that. But if that's the only argument for then we might as well give Joe Allen a chance in nets. The money from a sale of Bursik doesn't compare to that of promotion. The forum is generally very supportive of youth players (despite you suggesting otherwise) and have regularly backed and supported Bursik, Campbell, Souttar and Collins amongst others who came through. Bizarrely most of the forum wanted Bursik to start the season over Davies. But what has Davies done wrong? Contrary to your post, we have done better with Davies in goal. Edit: And on hindsight I actually reiterate the word blindly from my original post on this subject. Because right now you are completely overlooking Davies performances to try and validate your opinion. And I will hold me hand up and say I am also bias towards Davies. But at least I'm providing some data to back up my argument. Yours is simply opinion and nothing more.

I don’t think we played well at all last season. As I’ve said I think Bursik is better at commanding his box and kicking and Davies is better at shot stopping. There’s a gnats cock between them for me. I think promotion should be achieved with Bursik in. 15 months ago Souttar was a lanky good for nothing streak of piss to most on here so don’t give me that 😂 Nothing much re what’s he done wrong. But the bigger picture imo wins. You have two goalies that are about the same, play the one that in the longer run will mean better things. Short, medium and long term for me that’s Bursik. We haven’t played as well as we have in a few of these games this season last season. This season has been way better. But as I said I don’t think that was anything to do with who was in goal and I stressed that 🤦♂️😂

We have a goalkeeper who the England camp have high hopes for, who we have high hopes for. Yes we do need to give him a platform.

What I’ve wrote is perfectly fine. “Relugated” I mean he was but it was down to the injury more than anything and us not seeing that and selling him. We developed a goalkeeper that was highly thought of, valued and got to play for England. The issue was once he had become the experienced player. I really don’t see your point here.

In 12 or 15 years’ time a retired Adam Davies will be occasionally approached by fans of his old clubs, all congenially engaging one of their old fringe pros in polite chit-chat about the ups and (mostly) downs of his time with their club. Apart from one group, Stoke fans, who will fall at his feet in unworthiness at meeting this legend, this Yashin reincarnate who took the city by storm, proudly and defiantly leading the club to the heights of lower mid-table in the second division.. they’ll bow, they’ll kiss his hand and he’ll turn back to his family, apologetic and confused, and stroll away to nod hello to some Barnsley and (let’s say) Luton fans.
Sorry getting carried away I’m saying he’s overrated
