We have an oil boiler, thankfully the oil tank is almost full which ordinarily lasts for 9 months.
Electric wise we are being more careful, for example banning the wife from putting one potato in the oven to get a crispier skin on her jacket potato 😡

I’m hesitant to post this questionable human being’s post, especially without fact checking it but:

I prefer water anyway, please don't tell me we're running out of that as well?

I prefer water anyway, please don't tell me we're running out of that as well? So we're awaiting COP26 for a plan to dramatically cut the amount of CO2 we produce but in the meantime we're running out?

Tip for the day, don't switch from your current supplier to Bulb..... Why's that? Or to Together Energy, which is my current, no pun intended supplier.

I’m hesitant to post this questionable human being’s post, especially without fact checking it but: If that's true then that's a very sobering chart. Crazy what's happening and many of us face a very tough winter. At the end of the days it's a national security issue but I don't particularly get the feeling it is being treated as such. As others have said this is the end result of decades of neglectful policy and our aggressive approach to green energy/net zero - which frankly cannot sustain our country. Big reality check I think tbh

I been with EDF few a few years. Just coming to the end of my Tariff & the replacements are more expensive. I've plugged my new Tariff into uSwitch and they have said that there is no better Tariff currently available; so I'm happy to renew. £2,400 per year, the next cheapest was £3,000. It has increased significantly over the past few years, across the industry. £2,400 A YEAR, are you running a Cannabis farm? £2,124 it was last year, £2,400 is the new Tariff, but as I said uSwitch can't find it cheaper based on my consumption. We do eat a lot of energy, there's 5 of us all pretty much adults, and now with homeworking etc the house is never empty.

That’s the same for me however I have solar panels which make a huge difference in the summer to the electric bills

I go nuts when the Kids were basically take the piss out me, caught my daughter repeatedly warming her hands up with her hair drier then whacking up the thermostat to 28 when she’s sitting in her bedroom under her quilt. My son was literally in the shower for 30-45 minutes at a time and even brushing his teeth whilst under the shower. Thankfully they’ve both left home now and I only have the wife to keep an eye on, washing machine on a quick spin and never fill the kettle for one cuppa, that makes me sooo annoyed.

I would imagine after this winter of having to heat the house all day and the extra lighting and kettle boiling
They’ll be a massive clamour in the spring to get back in offices

Big reality check I think tbh I'm surprised we aren't focussing our efforts more on tidal power generation if we are insisting on the green route - we're an island and have some of the highest tidal ranges in the world. Obviously massive costs initially but these would come down as the tech got more advanced

I worked from home and claimed - Unfortunately you don't get £6 per week rebate, you get the tax relief on that £6. So you actually walk away with only £1.20 per week in your pocket. (Unless you are able to claim additional costs as expenses) That £1.20 certainly didn't pay my electric and heating for being at home in the winter.

Didn’t realise that, presumed I was getting around £4 a week in my arse pocket.

2x more companies fail today with the inevitable loss of jobs. Probably two nice firms trying to make a difference in the "big boy" energy market. The market is fundamentally flawed now and any small company will not go into this market. It is too risky and there is no government willing to step in when things go wrong. And they should step in they invented this system afterall! No small company can survive trying to sell a product at 1x price when they are forced to buy the product at 5x. We might as well go back to the days of MEB, Norweb, Seeboard and SWEB etc. You pay the price and that is the only price available. Afterall that is what we will all be doing shortly!

I’m with bulb, they doubled my bill for no reason.
They’re impossible to contact so I cancelled my direct debit.
They’re now trying to contact me, funnily enough.
I’ll see how this plays out.

It can actually be quite hard to cancel a DD unilaterally. So long as they've still got your original authorisation they can approach your bank to re-instate it.

It's the after effects of a knee jerk and overkill reaction to a virus, sledgehammer to swat a fly stuff. It was obvious shutting down most countries would lead to this.
