Franklin might know more I could understand letting them sit in the road and facilitating them to do it safely if it meant they could be immediately arrested and dealt with more easily after committing an offence than being suspected they were about to commit an offence but that means nicking them after 60 seconds not asking if they want tea or a cushion.... What they are afraid of is protesters running off into traffic if they tried to stop them reaching their intended destination and then the protesters would stop informing the police where they intend to go in advance which would cause more issues of finding them. So I think what they are doing is saying OK you intend to protest let us know where and when and we'll make it safe but you must leave ASAP or face arrest. I don't like it but understand why they do it. Since when did public order offences, causing a public nuisance or blocking a public highway , or breach or the piece becomes ok , the police have always vigorously enforced these laws . Try that on Stanley mathews way next Saturday and see what happens

Elf and Safety, I don't have a problem with that but the length of time they were allowed to protest was not right, an hour the first time is the most they should have been allowed in my opinion after that I'd be nicking them after 15 mins. I agree mate I don't know what "agreements" are in place with the organisers I'd be tough on them but the "Police" are soft now and run by soft bosses. One of the many dangerous side effects of the BLM seems to be that some police or police bosses think they need to show their support for the cause... They are back again today I see.....

The more serious side effect is that policing is by consent over the years at the football I've occasionally been on the wrong train or in the wrong pub and ended up marched to a pub or back to the station along with other fans and just gone along with in the future why shouldn't those fans do as they wish 30 or so cops wont control 100+ fans if they all decide to go off and do other things.

The police will treat football fans very differently to these protesters. They always have. I remember travelling away in the early 2000s to Sheff Wed (sure a few on here remember this). Marched from the station to a pub and kept there for about an hour, then marched to the tram which we were kept on for the next couple of hours until 2.50pm and let out at the ground into the home fans. 2 hours on a Tram with no toilets, yeah piss everywhere. Football fans are scum and have no human rights on matchday, hippy protesters get treated to cups of tea and welfare officers. Joke.

Never had it that bad got marched from Halifax station to pub outside the ground, got marched out of Reading at 7pm just as we were going for a couple more pints and got escorted from St Andrews back to New Street - that one no complaints about as it might have been a bit hairy otherwise as we had waited for a taxi that never showed.... My point is though say Halifax we had planned to go the city centre tick another spoons off but got told no, well in the future people might just walk off or wait till they are in the road and then 150-200 fans just sit in the road till they are allowed to do as they wish with camera phones and social media there will be no giving people a little smack to encourage them along.

I always knew you were a wrong un Lol we were only there for the beers so we would generally plan on arriving as close to 11am as possible and staying until last direct train back to stafford or London, never had any problems apart from a couple of times we ended up in the same place / train as the stone island / burberry mob so we got swept up with them.

Their choice of fashion isn’t up to much but I dare say most of what they’re wearing was made in a Far Eastern sweatshop, using child Labour then flown across the world for their pleasure😏 Not to mention those iPhones etc…

The thing is even if you agreed with the aims their demand to insulate 22 million homes and remove gas boilers in 3 years or whatever is physically not possible never-ending the idea the government should pay for it all.... Anyway seems like the police have had enough at last and have dragged them off the m25 straight away today.

How much would it cost the government to put solar panels on every building and house for free?
Would it be cost effective in the long run?

It astounds me that the police, who were only too keen to smash football fans at Old Trafford and women protesting that wanker copper who killed Sarah Everard, have been once again completely caught with their pants down. It's taken a full five occurrences of this shithouse behaviour before the police really acted with some authority. The first few protests were actively supported by the police. It was all charge of the light brigade when dealing with football fans and women, but not so keen when the 'cause' is virtuous enough.
Even yesterday, it appears they were far too soft on these cunts. Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain, Black a Lives Matter, Hope Not Hate, it seems the police are all too willing to let you run root and ruin lives so long as you play for the 'correct' team.
As soon as you scratch below the surface, it becomes abundantly clear that this Insulate Britain mob are a bunch of pawns. They don't give a shit about climate change. They want social housing insulated as a top priority. They want people who work hard, pay taxes but can't afford their own house, to pay for those who don't work, live in social housing and in the case of Liam Norton, have far too much time on their hands.

Would it be cost effective in the long run? 27,000,000 houses at £5k per pop (although if the government gets involved probably need to double the cost for diversity and inclusion managers etc) so £135 billion and the panels last 25-30 years without vandalism before they need replacing again at similar / higher cost. The issue might be in 10 years time solar panels are obselete technology and something better comes along as someone mentioned on talkradio this morning look at your lightbulbs, they said they had a garage full of LED lights
