Annoyed Everton survived. Nothing against them but it would’ve been far more of a novelty to have them in this pub league than Leicester or even Leeds. Also the amount of relegation battles they’ve survived even just since the premiership formed is miraculous. It leaves a bitter taste how they can be so lucky. We had one serious relegation battle in our 10 years in the premiership; and everything that could go wrong did go wrong and that was all she wrote for us. These fuckers have gone into final day relegation battle 4 times in the modern era (?) and survived every time. Does anyone realise just how much good fortune that entails!? Even if they only had a relatively low chance of going down each time, it’s exponential like an accumulator. It just adds to the feeling we are cursed as a club when you see how lucky other clubs can be. Not sure how Leeds/Leicester/Southampton will fare but the chances are they’ll just piss the division and further add to the annoyance of being a stoke fan. Its amazing how often posters on the Oatcake say it feels like we are cursed. Occasionally I respond. Tim Robinson should not be reffing a game of this magnitude He’s absolutely dreadful and I think he’s seen as the best in the championship which is why he’s got this. Like Oliver had the championship play off final. But the fact that he’s seen as the best in our league says it all about the standard, absolutely useless. Remember the goal he ruled out for us against West Brom a couple of seasons ago?

Wednesday really don’t look good enough to take advantage of the extra man.

Wednesday really don’t look good enough to take advantage of the extra man. I'd say fitness an issue too. Barnsley average age of 23.6 compared to 28.7 of Sheffield Wednesday, who have a number of 30+ players in their side. It's a big ask and the youngsters of Barnsley so far are covering the extra man.

I just don’t think Wednesday have much more than a long ball in them and you can’t really take advantage of an extra man just lumping it forward. They must be very good at the long ball to do as well as they have this season, but they don’t seem to have any ideas. Barnsley look far more likely to win this.

I think Wednesday hang on Bannan a bit too much for creativity and he hasn't really turned up so far.

I know they’re a younger team but being down to 10 for half an hour plus extra time must take it out of them. Wednesday however look devoid of ideas. Can see another shoot out here

I don't get the offside here. In the Luton game, Taylor scored from on offside position and they said it probably would have stood had he squared it.
Hunt has just squared it and they gave it offside despite the "phase of play" moving on a bit?
Does anyone understand this law any more?

Just thinking ahead here, if it goes to pens, will Wednesday have to nominate a player to withdraw, so it reaches the keeper's turns at the same time?

Its amazing how often posters on the Oatcake say it feels like we are cursed. Occasionally I respond. When I was 11, just after we won the League Cup, a Romany lad who was a friend of mine told me there there was a "gypsy curse" (his words) on the club, that was we wouldn't win a major trophy for a hundred years, and it ran out just before we won the cup. He said that after we won the cup the curse was renewed for another hundred years. Given the character of the lad, I'm 100% certain he wasn't winding me up. If the Coates family are reading this, you've seen Peaky Blinders, and you know what to do. And I've said this before. On behalf of the club you've got to apologise, and pay reparations, to the Romany people, to compensate for the eviction of their people from Sweetings Field in Stoke in the 19th century, which was arranged by the club to make way for a football ground. As I say, I've said this on here before, and I'm actually being serious, I'm not joking. 🙂 x peace and love Perhaps, if we all behave really well from now until the end of the year and don’t ask for anything else, Santa will bring us a trophy instead 😂
