St ettienne now a second division French club after Auxerre beat them on penaltys. Second game finished 1-1 2-2 on aggregate. Was a great tie over two legs.

If that happened at Wembley or in England UEFA would penalise them as an example

Not really feeling it for tonight - everyone wants us to lose and we'll be panto villain if we win. Almost every interview no matter how well meaning seems to provide fuel to spur the opposition on even further. Not used to this at all - is this what it feels like being English? If Scotland do win tonight, which I'm not confident of, Wales would be a belter but even though this is the best chance for 98 really can't get excited about Qatar and don't think it is purely down to having to have to put Ukraine out as part of that journey. In honesty I think it'll be Ukraine running through walls who win tonight and Wales that go through.

But look, imagine a dodgy handball penalty against Wales. The Welsh have thought of nothing else since 1977😁

There was Jock Stein's heart attack in 85 and all so some proper history with Wales.

My main running partner is originally from North Wales, he's got a ticket for Sunday, he's also a Wrexham and Liverpool fan, not had the best of the last two weeks , a defeat on Sunday would probably send him over the edge.

Matondo on at half-time. Another who has shone after leaving the graveyard of the Bet365 Stadium It really does make you wonder just what we do to footballers when they join Stoke. I wonder what the word is amongst professionals when Stoke gets mentioned as an option for them? I know money is what ticks most boxes for them, but there must be others who have seen how we are destroying players in recent times and think no way am I going to Stoke 😂😂

Given Bordeaux got relegated and no parachute payments in France they will be keen to move him on That €3m deal can surely now be renegotiated in our favour Failing that another loan

Can't see us signing Maja AND this "bigger" striker/target-man type he's mentioned though. Don't think Maja could lead the line in a 4-3-3. Wouldn't be against loaning him (but how often would he play if we did sign another too?), but they'll probably want a fee of £1m+ as he enters his final year. Mind you, with them in French Div 2, they will probably become desperate to shift him

Being honest I think he needs a partner along side him to be successful but to throw om with 20mins left isant a bad option. If they do loan him think he will have options but if they sell him how many can afford him plus the wages.

Like the chappie above I think Maja is worth another crack. Sometime you just need a big unit up there

Yeah - it was certainly suggested that he'd be looking at a target-man type a couple of weeks ago I agree on Maja - definitely needs a partner in a two, and I think MON may prioritise someone who can lead the line on his own, then also complement Brown or Campbell in a two. Whether we could then squeeze Maja in, who knows? But with that bigger option, plus Brown and Campbell (plus maybe an option to play on the left in a 4-3-3), it would restrict the minutes available. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-andy-carroll-7104697Stoke City manager hints at transfer hunt for new number nine Stoke City transfer news: Michael O'Neill believes his squad would be better with the option of a target man
