Championship: 202 mins, 7 attempts on goal, 0.71 Total xG, 1 goal. 0.34 non Pen xG per 90, 3.3 attempts per 90, 0.48 goals per 90. ..................................................................... EFL Cup: 134 mins, 5 attempts on goal, 1.37 Total xG, 2 goals. 0.92 non pen xG per 90, 3.4 attempts per 90, 1.34 goals per 90. ..................................................................... Combined: 0.58 non pen xG per 90, 3.3 attempts per 90, 0.83 goals per 90. ..................................................................... Oh and he set up Clucas for the second against Swansea. Outstanding start to his Stoke career. Oh mate don't bring stats in to it! I did it to debunk his "saying Tyrese is injured is an excuse for our bad form" theory. Stats for goals/assists and points per game with and without Campbell were clear as day. Literally obvious for anyone else to see it. Nope, diverted/ignored them 😂

I'm afraid I have to agree with Bayern That he has lots of room for improvement but if Brown,Tymon,Smith and Clucas are anything to judge by then he is going to be a great addition to the side. Everyone is rushing to judgement too quickly, let's see how he looks after the International break. I'm hoping to see a significant improvement. This. Stats wise great start. There are just some worrying things about his play. No reason he can't fix them once he gets up to speed, but that's not nailed on so let's not get carried away. The club's talent spotting has paid off recently so I'm excited to see what our Sammie can do. It's brilliant to have that feeling of hope again!

I was very pleased and disappointed with him tonight.
He could, no should, have had a hat-trick.
He has a natural instinct of getting in the right place at the right time, but like Diouf then proceeds to miss. But he is still only just 23 and when he settles, and "finds himself" and calms down, not snatching at shots, he will score regularly.

It's been such a while since we've had a striker that gets into the positions he does. That's half the battle won and a big battle we've lost for so many years. Slowly, slowly with him. If the fans stick with him we'll be rewarded big time.

He needs to contribute more in the build up though. I find it concerning that he can't trap the ball, or hold it up

I think people have hit the nail on the head in the comments. He offers something we have not had for years. A player who is in the right spot at the right time. His finishing will get better, but his contribution so far has been fabulous.
Looks like a great player to me.

When you look at some of the dross we’ve had to put up with he’s a big upgrade. From Vokes to Sturridge is a huge improvement.

Few times as well where he could have took and drove forward with the ball. I thought he was poor tonight tbh. Really good finish for the goal but the rest should have resulted in two goals. I’m sticking with ok generally though. There’s things to like, there’s thing to not like. He’s just ok. Not a striker to get you above midtable if he starts 30+ games.

He is young with room for improvement and will get better, I am confident that he isn’t a Keith Scott

He should have been walking off with the match ball tonight. Some of those misses were extraordinarily bad.

Surridge doesn’t do much apart from score goals.
If he isn’t scoring gilt edged chances then he isn’t going to be starting many games.

Surridge will learn from last night, the volley & the sitter from Tymon's cross he will know exactly where he's gone wrong and will know better for next time.
He could be better outside of the box but that may come, look at the improvement in Jacob Brown.
What I do like is the mix in strikers we have when fully fit, each one of them offers something different.

O’Neill appears to be a good coach. I expect his all-round game to improve a lot. I’d also like to see him put on a few pounds of muscle mass, which I think would make him more effective outside the box.

After looking at his record and teams played for etc I didn’t have much hope. Also, watching him play I aren’t sure if I see a potential prem player there. But for now, he’s sticking it in the back of the net. So I’m Happy for him to keep improving 👍🏻

Yea you kind of think ‘what is his quality’ not a stand out player but there’s something about him that gets himself in the right spot without pace or vigour but he’s scoring and that’s fine.

Young lad. Bags of potential.
Give him a season with this management team and judge him then. Signs are positive.

Seen Thorne, Stein,Sheron all have nights last night (& he still scored one)
Providing it's the exception (as it was for those guys, one game of missed chances was usually followed by lots of goals) then no problem, games like this happen
if he regularly misses good chances then it's a problem
generally with out current strikers the key is going to be who is the best fit with Campbell? I think there is a case for all of them
As with our other problems on the pitch I think we are over worrying about them
we are in good nick, playing good stuff at times (sloppy at other times) look solid at the back & are making chances Stoke are a good Championship team with a clear structure to our play & reasonable strength in depth
promotion? gut feeling says close but no cigar this season but hey who knows?

I like Surridge, I think he's going to be a good striker for us!!! 👍🏼 One of his missed opportunities last night was more down to the excellent display from their keeper......Tymon crossed it in low, Surridge in the right place comes sliding in, and I'm not quite sure how the keeper kept it out, but, like I say, he was excellent last night!!!

Those sliding chances either go in or they don’t (obviously). It’s the striker’s job to make connection with it, but other than that, I don’t know how much more they can do.

But his constant change of pace and general movement in the box was great. I'm convinced he opened up chances that way. Far better than average in getting to the right place but with glaring weaknesses, perfect pub argument fodder this lad.

Thorne would have buried the header that clucas missed. Agreed Thorne had the knack of often scoring not twice but thrice if he scored once Surridge seems a 'one-goal per game max' type of player

Like Brown on Saturday, he scored. Whilst yes he could have had another, he has put one away and we've had a history of strikers incapable of doing that. He will do for me.
