Lee Chapman was shit if you listened to the blokes around me back in the day
Even when he scored Dread to think of the stick he would get on here if playing today
3 goals in not many more games for the T-less first-named-one is a good indication that he knows how to score - off his arse, shoulder, back of head with eyes closed thinking about tomrrow's tea -they all count

And Kav used to get loads of stick on this board. As did Whelan, & now Joe. Sounds familiar. A lot of Stoke fans are only happy when they're moaning

Shows what I know :-)

Been disappointed with him in the box in the league. He’s got into some good positions but needed too much time on the ball to get a shot away. Tonight’s goal was a really good finish but allowed by some comical defending that gave him so much time. But if he can change that then he will be useful in the league for goals. But it’s definitely his biggest weakness so far. You really do take talking drivel to a whole new level.

He'll earn the respect of the vast majority if he achieves that, let's be honest though - his achievements to date at Stoke City are not so impressive apart from a short purple patch in front of goal in his first season here.
Kav scored some really special goals for us like this beauty:
edit: What a player Kav was for us, I was very bitter at the time when he joined Cardiff but he deserves a lot of respect for his time here, it's easy to forget just how good he was at times:

He needed too much time in good positions and couldn’t get the shot away. His running was good against Swansea and played a big part in the win but he messed up a few chances where he should be getting a shot away but didn’t. He’s been better than expected but still not that good in the league which is where it counts. An improvement on Vokes and Gregory for sure.

He'll go through a lean spell and inevitably the Stoke boo boys will be on his back. He will be specially selected as the latest scapegoat (we have to have one) for all other problems at the club. With confidence and motivation shot to pieces, he tries to rekindle some love of the game at Wimborne Town and Stoke once again fail to capitalise. It's what we do. Or, as already mentioned, he'll be half decent like Chapman and still driven out. That was a day, 1-0 win at Arsenal (Chapman) and my mate trying to do a cockney accent when spotted by Arse fans on the Tube. I think the accent was so bad they felt sorry for us an let us off.

For those who remember him, there’s definite similarities. Lacks a bit of pace. Doesn’t seem amazing at anything. Just decent. But give him a sniff and there’s a good chance the onion bag will rattle. Hopefully he can do 20+ like Pete! Not in a million years

Another lad who got loads of undeserved stick was Ryan Shotton.
Had TP stayed, Shotton would have become a mainstay of the team as we continued our spell in the Prem.

A lot of people seem to forget that for his first season and a half he was awful. Wash your mouth out with soap!!! Thorney was my first City hero. What a player.

He looks to know where the back of the net is so that's an improvement on what we've had. Time will tell but it's a promising start long may it continue.

Let’s hope Surridges first 18 months here is better than Thornes. A lot of people seem to forget that for his first season and a half he was awful. 16 goals in his first season in all competitions, for a team that was appalling all season and had three different managers is not awful is it? Ricardo Fuller scored 15 in a promotion winning side that was built all around him, albeit both different players. As for Surridge, if he matches that 16 goal haul in his first season I'd be delighted. Like a lot of players, Thorne got so much undeserved stick. In his first 2 and a half years he had 6 different managers (Bates, Kamara, Durban, Little, Megson and Thordarson) but his most serious crime was that he wasn't Mike Sheron. Yeah he was actually good in the first half of his first season with the club. The problem with Thorne in those days is he didn't seem to have much backbone and if the team were playing poorly he'd crumble. He was poor in the second half of that season along with the rest of the team, he was poor in the Brian Little season and the first half of the Megson/Gudjon season he barely scored anything and it wasn't controversial at all that he was often out of the team. Then something clicked in March 2000 and he went on an absolutely insane goalscoring run until the end of the season and ended up with over 25 goals. From that point on he was a really fearsome goalscorer and he seemed to sort out his mental weakness and gain consistency.

Different when you're laying the boot into our current manager isn't it. Don't even know why I'm replying to you, you are the biggest wind up merchant on this board and always have been. If that's the way that you have to get your kicks when you reach a certain age, they can fucking shoot me now.

He's got a long way to go before he makes a Peter Thorne, regardless of division Thorne was class. Imagine if we had him now

After Surridge's first match, I thought he had the potential to be better than Fletcher. I still think Fletcher is better for now, but it's Surridge scoring the goals! Inevitably he'll have a run where he doesn't score, but he couldn't really have got off to a better start.
