I’d hope so but he didn’t show anything near enough to warrant another loan. Loan players have to make you better and not be a project. Clarke and Matondo were both massive failures last season. Made us much better at the end of the season. He came back from a huge injury. He had one and a half good games. It wasn’t near enough.

I’d be great at it. We need better than Matondo unless we can sign him cheap like 250k and on 4K a week. He’s a project. We don’t need a project on loan. Aren’t loans exactly that? Projects? More senior players go out on loan because they have burned bridges etc. It’s a project to rebuild their focus and confidence. Young players go out on loan, it’s a project to develop them. The better younger players have at least 3 clubs in better positions than Stoke to go to now + Swansea and Bournemouth. So inevitably, we will be left with those that are potentially less close to the ‘real deal’. It shouldn’t be a project for the club they’re moving to. If you get a loan player from a PL club they should make you better instantly. That’s what is needed. Neither came close.

Ever thought about doing motivational talks? I’d be great at it. . Where? At Dignitas making sure they don't bottle it?

Harry Wilson or Harvey Elliott we should be looking at for loan Or the next version of them who’s 18/19 at a big club. I don’t think we’ve had a good loan since we got relegated.

I don't get the Harry Wilson love in if I am honest. There must be another gem out there somewhere our new transfer team could unearth. Harvey Elliot fell away during the second half of the season at Blackburn?. I like Joe Rothwell at Blackburn. Runs at defenders and takes defenders on. Great engine as well.

We may as well sign Celine Dion, at least she could put down a much needed decent cover of 'We'll be with you' !

Watched most of the first half of Accrington's friendly from a distance (not pitch side) and at first thought he was the small forward but he played more a midfield role in a central area directing play and tried a couple effort from wide of the area, always looking to pass forward. Lots of shouts from the side lines (manager) to find Dion as he made the odd run forward. Thus did not play as and forward in this warm up game and Accrington changed the 11 at half time thus i stopped watching though over 700 at the game.

A sure sign you are no longer in the big time when your star summer signing comes from Accrington Stanley. I mean who even knew they were still going ?!

Jamie Vardy came from the lower leagues and he's done ok. It is by and large where we have to shop these days and be prudent, for the money we would be paying, it's relatively low risk compared to some of the previous wasters we've purchased.

Hes 25 and scored 29 goals in 105 ....20 last season. I wouldnt be paying anywhere near that much for someone who some have called a "late bloomer" and could be a 1 season wonder tbh As I understand it, Charles was always a winger/wide player until he joined Accy, who started playing him in the middle - hence the marked increase in scoring.
The jury must still be out as to whether he can up his game to the next level (Championship), or whether League One is as far as he goes, but he must feel he deserves a shot at it, whether Stoke or elsewhere.
As an NI fan, I'm hopeful and Michael should know a bit about him via his old mate Ian Baraclough (NI manager).

More than happy for both to come back myself I wouldn’t be bothered if we saw neither of them again at Stoke. I was disappointed by both.

My eldest went to watch him play today (as did 5 or 6 other Stokies according to him). Said he was very impressive. He was rapid and scored twice. Caveat to this is that they were only playing Clitheroe which is like us playing Newcastle Town.

He will do for me o that basis Alfie on one side him on the other and we might be a bit better to watch and less ponderous

He did score after 4 minutes (took it well and been through on goal)) and stood out slightly but Accy changed all eleven at H/T. Score again after 48 mins but it was another player the last goal was chip again one the 2nd half team, only heard the cheer and so it on the big screen. Yes the level is not great and it was just the first run out of the season but mainly an even game as Accy keeper made a great save or so in the 1st half. Accy 2nd half team were giants. Burnley forward all left foot on for the 2nd half did not score Umbobongo chap.

Not sure about this guy. Not a single assist in that whole package. Someone who goes for goal instead of trying to fart around looking for a teammate to pass to? I don't think the fans will take kindly to that!

£2 million? Accringtons record fee received from a transfer would be about £15k at most I reckon.
