Glad Taylor is getting an extension, looked decent whenever I've seen him play.

Is he a first year or older? Second year. So should either be released or offered a pro deal.

Second year. So should either be released or offered a pro deal. What do you think about Coates being released? Poor decision. Same for Porter. Think it’s odd we’re offering Goodwin a contract too. He looked better in the play off but he doesn’t look anything close to being good enough to be a league player.

www.stokecityfc.com/news/2022/may/27/potters-announce-retained-list/Elsewhere, six members of the U23s squad are to be released – Robbie Hemfrey, Kieran Coates, Adam Porter, Patrick Jarrett, Christian Norton and Max McCarthy. Contract extensions have been offered to Matthew Baker, Lewis Macari, Gabriel Adebambo, Ibrahima Sy, Douglas Taylor and Will Goodwin. At U18s level, second-year scholars Xander Parke, Conor Robson, Jake Cartwright, Ifeanyi Udanoh, Ted Cargill, Samuel Knowles, Shilo Waldo, Kian Knott, Ryanjay Malbon and Joshua Waite will depart. Meanwhile, David Okagbue and George Lewis have been offered professional contracts. Tommy Simkin signed his first professional deal with the Club in April. I’m really surprised that Norton is gone. He seemed to be up for it physically. I would have given him the chance for another loan before saying he couldn’t cut it. I suppose that any/all of these kids could have also just asked for a release.

He's scored 0 goals and couldn't get into a bang average Cheltenham side. No surprise to me at all. I am surprised by Coates. Looked like one of our better players in the u23s but didn't get a sniff of 1st team action wish says alot given how abysmal our RB situation was/is

He looked better in the play off but he doesn’t look anything close to being good enough to be a league player. Neither of them have progressed, it’s as simple as that. Porter was given two starts against lower league teams in the league cup and was totally anonymous. Goodwin has the tools physically to succeed. I’d agree that technically he’s got work to do, but he’s got a better chance than a lot of the skilful but weak players we seem to produce.

Ollie Shenton, still only 24, currently plays for Chorley, where he's played 4 times since 2020 according to Wiki.
You just never know how it'll pan out.

Good luck to them. It's a long road and maybe they will make stoke pay one day. Most of these lads read the boards. Not making it at stoke will be a downer but they are in the elite of footballers and if they can stay positive they will have opps at a lower level, semi pro or development abroad really works now with systems investing in quality UK academy players. Build on the fantastic experiences and coaches and enjoy your footbal and ignore some of the crap written on here about lads that are young still and have given their all for the club to get to this stage.

It's not clear though whether Shenton will be playing for them next season it's not been announced and they have lost their manager.

Goodwin is a terrible footballer. He’s got the attitude yeah and he has improved but I’m not sure how he even got to Chester’s level. He seems a nice lad though. But I fear we’re taking attitude over talent and that’s worrying.

In regards to Goodwin they taking physicality over technical ability. He’s going to have to improve though I agree.
