Anyone else experiencing this?? I'm not talking about instances where stock, or parts, or products are in constraint. I'm talking more about the service industry, where you need a phone picked up, or an email responded to.
Ask a simple query on email - "we will aim to respond within 15 working days*" etc etc
*20 w/days later, with a chase-up in between, still nothing.
1hr waits in phone queues.
Have their staff all died from this deadly virus? These are services that should have been maintained quite easily.
Bastards!! đ

Couldnât agree more. Loads of companies have used it as an excuse and rather than adjust their operations just used COVID as a cover for laziness. I take my hat off to those who have changed and diversified to keep going.

And the feckin dentists, theyâre even worse! My dentists are charging an extra ÂŁ30 for PPE. I went with my son, both of us stayed in the room while we were treated and neither the dentist or his assistant changed masks, aprons or goggles as we swapped places in the chair (wouldnât expect them to as we were from the same household). When we got to reception for the bill the cheeky sods tried to charge me for two lots of PPE. I put them straight, but aside from businesses using COVID as an excuse for poor service, some are trying to make money unscrupulously from it as well.

I honestly try and sort my calls/emails out immediately if not within the hour by asking ppl to call me back, itâs hard work on busier days but Iâve learnt not to pamper to silly requests and addressing more robustly peopleâs expectations to avoid repeat requests, if itâs a no itâs a no. More importantly rather than being a jack of all trades signposting to the relevant person rather than doing another persons job for them. I feel that honesty and hard work is key to a good working environment rather than spending more time and effort trying to get out of work if that makes sense.

BT (for broadband) have done it on numerous occasions and blamed the pandemic for not replying to messages multiple times, but they were just as bad before COVID. Absolutely diabolical company.

I think thereâs plenty of doctors surgeryâs that have grown fat over covid and have got away with doing very little, so too the dentists. Furlough loving key workers with a hero complex I read somewhere .. anyone who uses moss green surgery will struggle to disagree with that

Doesnât stop them endlessly cold calling you trying to upsell. But theyâre no different to Sky or Virgin. All their effort is on selling and upselling, minimal effort on customer service.

I continuously get Virgin contacting me trying to get me to upgrade my iPhone, which in truth does need updating. Nice enough lad but for the life of me I couldnât understand what he was saying at times, when I asked if it was possible to be transferred to a UK salesperson he actually told me I couldnât ask that question and called me rude, politely responded then hung up.

Getting through to our doctors has been nothing short of disgraceful since this all began. Fairly typical that if you want to make an appointment (and that will only be a phone appointment) it takes between 10 and 20 times to get through to their "switchboard" only to be put on hold for anything between 2 and 30 minutes until the line frees up. Also, face to face appointments are as rare as rocking horse do do's. 4 weeks ago I finally got through to make an appointment only to be told that the next appointment was 3 weeks time (and that only a phone call from the doctor). They said they would ring on a particular day and at a particular time. They did indeed ring but I was on another call which I could not end in time so missed the call. I tried to call back less than 60 seconds later only to have to go through the above rigmarole again so it was over an hour of trying before I got through only to be told I had to wait for another phone appointment in 2 weeks time. I believe that 75% of the non medical staff are on furlough and most of the doctors are working from home or on reduced hours but I am assuming that Doctor's Surgeries are still getting their full income from the government. I think there seems to be a completely different mindset from the private sector to some of the public sector in all this.

Ring before 8...lines closed...after 8.15am...45min wait, no on the day appts left. Shameful. No excuse for it.

Our doctors surgery - lines open at 8.00am, from then to about 9.45am the lines seem permanently engaged. When you do finally get through you have a list to choose from.....press 1 for appointments, 2 for prescriptions, etc, so you press 1 but because the receptionist is by then on another call it does not recognise what you have pressed and you are theon told to ring again. When you finally do get to speak to a receptionist you have to answer about 20 questions so that she can decide whether she thinks it's necessary for the doctor to phone you back at a particular time later that week, or. She tells you that appointments have been filled and the next block are not released till the following week ! When you do finally get to speak to a doctor you go through the same questions that you discussed with the receptionist, and if the doctor feels he does need to see you in person you get an appointment for a face to face meeting in approx 10 days !
Edit : blood tests - I needed a blood test in mid April and our surgery said the earliest they could do it would be early June ! They did suggest I ring my local hospital phlebotomy dept as it would be quicker, and the hospital gave me an appointment for 2.00pm that same day !
