Let’s hope Gareth reads the Oatcake then so he can make sure he corrects that error. Gareth read the Oatcake! If he got caught he'd be lynched on Twitter, forced to resign and cancelled.

I shall be rooting for the Scots, only time I don’t is when they’re playing England, like all the other home nations. Like the sentiment but do you think Scotland and Wales cheer for England? I was in Blackpool for the 98 world cup game against Argentina and let me tell you the Scotts were not cheering England. No not at all but then I couldn’t care less what they think. I want to see them do well, they can please themselves

Time for resting players is the Czech game as Scotland are no mugs. I’d go for more attacking full backs
I’d go with
Pickford
Chillwell Stones Mings James
Phillips Rice
Mount Sterling Foden
Kane

That was his explanation. I thought it was quite interesting. Will you go to the pub to watch it mate?…..wear that shirt with pride if you do and go easy on the fuckers 😊 Not this time... well, not in Glasgow. I’m up in the Cairngorms next week so may watch it in Braemar or Balleter.

Spent a few great nights in Genoa in particular at the 90 WC with Scots and Brazilians, . Great fun. A few a bit touchy on here if you don't declare England the best in Europe and dare criticise. Just a bit of banter. I doubt many English cheer Scotland but doesn't mean you have to copy them.

There will be of course some Scotts and Welsh that will cheer on the home nations, I worked with a Scotsman in New Zeeland and him and his wife were great friends of ours at the time and one of the kiwi's said something like you brits are all the same, to which he replied don't ever put me down as one of them pointing to me, he did say no offence to as he walked out though.

I’d have started him ahead of Sterling today but Sterling’s justified his inclusion.

Do not under estimate Scotland, they will be fired up and have a decent team now for the first time in a while.

Robertson Tierney McGinn , after that I'm struggling to name anyone of note. It won't be a walk in the park because of the ' local derby' aspect. Were it France Italy or Belgium playing them they'd be torn a new one . The nature of the game is a leveller

In recent years Scotland have not had a good time footballing wise evidenced by the 20yrs plus since they qualified for the final stages of a major tournament but do not make the mistake of thinking this will be a walk in the park. Scotland will be fired up for this and have some quality players such as in defence Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney. Their midfield contains Billy Gilmour, John McGinn and Scot, McTominay and up front they can call on Che Adams and Ryan Fraser, all quite capable of causing England problems, their manager Steve Clarke is nobodies fool either and we need to consider the political climate up there as well. No doubt we have the quality to win the game but if the mindset and work rate are not at the A game level we could come unstuck and we would be unwise to think in any other way.

The Scots have a massive inferiority complex when it comes to dealing with anything English accompanied by a massive chip on their shoulders and so will always be a difficult fixture for us.
Thank heavens it’s not being played at Hampden , as we could have serious problems both inside and outside the ground.

Happy to cheer on the Welsh, the Scots, NI, the Republic when they're not playing England. Not fussed at all that's it might not be reciprocated, that's their choice.

I guess a bit of sheep mentality there as well. Far better having more home nations in a tournament for me. I remember going to see Bulgaria v Spain think it was at Elland Rd the day England beat Scotland and a fella in a Leeds shirt calling Gary McAllister every name under the sun watching the game in the pub. Oh well.

I blame the English Press and Media for the hate. Every fucking time a major comp comes up they give it laldee about 1966 and all that bullshit. As if we aren't hated enough from Culloden, the Potato wars and the fucking Crusades! Granted none of that is relevant anymore as you and me had nothing to do with it but it's ingrained. FFS the Germans get a better reception than us! I have some great Welsh, Irish and Scottish mates but this is different gravy. Everyone will want the Jocks to beat us bar.our own.

I agree, all the home nations qualifying makes it interesting for us all, my mums side of the family were staunch Irish Catholics from over the sea and I could tell you a few stories, my mum and uncles were/are vale fans and ironically knocked around with the Coates family in Goldenhill where they both grew up and I have some great friends who are vale fans and whilst they would never cheer Stoke nor me Vale we have many a great chat about both teams.

Good stuff. Banter one thing, don't do all the local rivalry stuff. I take most of the Scottish stuff in good heart as think are brilliant fans. 48 hours on the drink with them in Genoa before Ireland played Romania and a few Brazilian ladies thrown in was as good as it gets.

Fair amount of arrogance and disrespect going around against Scotland and the Czechs here, quite amusing. I said on another post last week, I was listening to 5 live who were doing Scotland, Monday, England, Tuesday and Wales, Wednesday, The people in and around the Scottish camp and all the Scottish pundits were all of the same opinion that take us lightly at your own peril and I fully expect Scotland to be really well prepared and up for the match on Friday, we have a better quality players than them but as is the norm for England we tend to fall down against pure passion and aggression and I expect both on Friday! That said I think we'll win!
