The Black Phone
A seriously, scary, spooky film.
A creepy guy is abducting kids and locking them up in a basement.
Go see.
9/10

Watched Chopper again last night a cracker of a cult movie. On the crime front though Legend is worth the watch just for Tom Hardys performance.

Just rewatched Hacksaw Ridge. An excellent and true story. Highly recommend it. I liked the main set piece but thought a lot of the film was really lame Could have been much better Worth a watch for sure but won't watch it again

Have a look at what you've gone and done. Your mum's upset...🤣 Anyone seen the unbearable weight of massive talent? Looks good on the trailer..

THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER Watched this over 2 nights. In Finnish, based on the Russo-Finn war in the 1940s. Scores highly on IMDb but for me was a 6.5/10 despite the realism and brutality Goes on for three hours. Have you ever heard a foreign language and thought, "That's just bollocks! They're making that shit up. That's not real language!" That's what Finnish sounds to my ears!

Went to see Elvis last night. Very sad film. I have never been a big Elvis fan but went because I love Tom Hanks. It does open your eyes to the exploitation of the 60s and 70s pop stars. It’s an unusual roll for Hanks ostensibly playing a bad guy. Although according to many online articles he was kind and respectful to the Elvis family.

Brightburn
The premise is- what if Superman had come to Earth, been raised by humans but became a psychopath?
Not bad, some gory kills

I also watched 'Gray Man' on Netflix last night. Not really my cup of tea. Full of gratuitous action all the way through but not realistic in my opinion. (I prefer film noir for that sort of stuff.) I suppose it's okay if you like crazy car chases and loads of gunbattles with a bit of sadism thrown in for good measure. Just about watchable if there's nowt else to watch. 5/10 from me.
OS.

If you want a gem of a film and have Netflix, give Paddleton a go.

Went to see Notre Dame On Fire this evening.
I thought it was brilliant. Ok, a bit melodramatic in parts, but as a visual spectacle, it was sensational.
Go see.
10/10

How much does everyone pay at their local cinema?

How much does everyone pay at their local cinema? The Newcastle-under-Lyme Vue was £4.99 until covid hit, now it's £7.99. I used to go to the cinema loads, even on my own. But I feel £7.99 is a bit much for that now. Manchester Vue and Odeon are still only £4.99 I think. Crewe Odeon is £10, Northwich Baron's Quay more than that I think. They're the cinemas I frequent most. This'll be a good offer for most places: www.groupon.co.uk/deals/odeon-3 (no need to register on Groupon's site either)

Bullet Train was nuts, if Deadpool, Snatch & Kill Bill is your thing? Then it’s highly recommended, I throughly enjoyed it 8/10

Don't bother with cinemas these days, since COVID new films get released on Sky earlier anyway. plus I can pop round the shop and get a bag of popcorn for a quid

The big screen gives a much, much better experience than home TV. And popcorn ain’t compulsory. Even if you need some, you can take your own!

Godzilla vs Kong was released digitally during covid which I saw straight away. Then a couple of months later was released at the cinema, which I went to just to get that big screen experience.

Really enjoyed this - imbd 6.5 I'd actually give it 8/10 Clearly updated to empower our sisters but that agenda doesn't sour the narrative. Well worth a watch
