Saw Doctor sleep yesterday.
I wouldnt say I liked it, but it was very good...
Some of the content was very disturbing and not in a horror-film kind of scary way. Plenty of parallels to be drawn between pizzagate/adrenochrome and the goings-on in the film.
I found some of the scenes really difficult to watch - not because they were scary, just tough watching and well acted. (Says more about me than anything though, I watched the vvitch the other day too and that was good, but I hated all the perversion towards children) and

It's not as good as Kubrick's masterpiece- that would an impossible job- but it does it's own thing and succeeds

Dog.
Two damaged souls on a road trip. A man and a dog.
Totally predictable plot. No surprises or twists.
Totally enjoyable!
7/10

A few hidden pointers at The Shining throughout it, some more obvious than others.

'The Batman' is getting some rave reviews.
It's not quite up there with 'The Dark Knight' but still pretty good and more of a grounded crime / detective story after all of the fantasy, gods and aliens stuff in Justice League.
Three hours long though? - overkill.

Kimi
Fairly standard fair from Soderburgh. Reminded me of Hitchcock's Rear Window. No real surprises
2.5/5

The Batman. Can’t make head nor tail of it to be honest. The stuff I loved was in reality a rip off of Se7en/Zodiac. Still interesting to see. Robert Pattinson did a lot of interesting stuff.

Thought it was a poor mans se7en tbh....where people related it to se7en. Cinematography was great. I especially liked the car chase scene. Wasn't overly impressed with the Riddler either. He came across as too crazy and similar to the Joker in that regard. I'd prefer it he were more more intellectual as in previous versions and the 'Gotham' tv series, rather than some bloke in a gimp mask. Also, too long. Could have kept it down to 2.5 hours max. 6.5/10 from me.

I was picking up a Sin City vibe with the narration. I think if they really want to go down the darker se7en route then it needed to be more gruesome and higher than a PG.

You'll never beat The Dark Knight for the best Batman film.
That aside, these are some of my all time favourites: -
Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Silence of the Lambs Goodfellas Se7en Fight Club American History X City of God The Usual Suspects The Prestige Memento Oldboy (original) Inglourious Basterds Good Will Hunting The Secret in their Eyes

The Dark Knight is a close second behind my all time favourite movie (Jaws).
It was class for Heath Ledger’s (RIP) portrayal of the joker & his performance definitely added to the movie, personally the film would of been average without him.
The Batman I enjoyed it and loved the seven vibe to it, the opening scene was creepy as hell. I plan to go for a second viewing (own a limitless card).
Looking forward to the new Dr Strange movie & seeing what direction the MCU is going to take with the possibility of reintroducing old characters from previous movies (X Men).

Saw The Batman today.
Had low expectations, not being much of a superhero fan, but I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
8/10

I thought there was no way Robert Pattinson could pull it off and wouldn’t be a patch on Christian Bale, but I thought he was very good and far more violent and dark which is truer to the comic. Throw in the extra bit of Nirvana on the sound track and it was a win win for me; looking forward to the spin offs.

Just seen Malignant
It starts off a bit like an Italian giallo and then the last 40 minutes are nuts with nods to 70s exploitation and Kung Fu. Gory in parts, well worth sticking with for the last third

Ultrasound
Low budget paranoia that starts off strangely and confusing but for good reason as the plotclears you understand why. I fell asleep watching it (not the film's fault it was too late for me!) and on waking felt genuinely unsettled and questioning reality!
4/5 well worth a watch

Fortress - 2/10
Bruce Willis absolutely shocking dialogue.
Missile explosion in one scene looks like something from an 80s computer game.
IMDB is generous with 3.5/10
Would highly recommend this film.

Ambulance.
Heist movie shot. Ludicrous plot, rubbish acting. Worst thing was it started to make me travel sick… not something that usually bothers me. This film comes from a director who has a particular style of shooting with cameras that go all over the shop.
1/10

Attended my first odeon Screen Unseen tonight, which is an movie that the audience won’t know until it starts playing. However there are 4 clues to try and guess the movie.
Tonight it was The Novice, which I hadn’t heard anything about but stuck it out for the duration. Personally it is a tough watch and I enjoyed it but some did walk out so it won’t be for everyone.
7/10
