I remember when we went to my grandparents when I was a little kid, 5-8 years old, something like that, and I was given a 33 cl glass bottle with rasperry soda or something.
Back then I thought the bottle was huge.
This Friday when I went to the food store I realized they don't have any glass bottles with raspberry soda any longer. The seem to be much shorter and they're made of thin soft plastic now.
I was really surprised they still contain 33 cl. It must be false. To me, it looked like 20, 25 cl tops.
Have you had the same reaction?

Have you had the same reaction? It Would entirely depend on the circumference and thickness of the bottom to determine the size of the bottle As for glass we could do a lot more to bring back glass bottles and crates with returnable deposits To cut down on the use of plastic

Sure we used to drink Corona lemonade in 33cl and they seemed HUGE. As indeed did the accompanying chocolate bars which have indeed been shrunk by the manufacturers now

Anyone remember the Davenports home delivery man for beer and pop? We used to love hanging on the back of his van as he delivered 😆

We used to love hanging on the back of his van as he delivered 😆 Certainly do, our master plan was to get two of us playing football in the street and “accidentally” kick the ball under the delivery van, when the driver stopped we’d come from everywhere grab what we could and leg it, I’d always end up with some bloody horrible stout or something like that.

Strawberry Cresta. The bottle would get so sticky and atrract wasps from miles around. Lucozade used to have a gold film on the bottle

My thought on this is: Since I was just a little kid, everything seemed larger.
33 cl must be 33 cl today as well.
I remember thinking this about tits also.

I remember the 'pop wars' with the Corona man knocking on our door, having seen Alpine driving off, and trying to get my Dad to swap his alegiance to them. 'Alpine is like drinking water' is what he told my old man.. 'That's ok, my kid drinks it like it's water' said he I agree that the Alpine bottles did seem enormous at the time but probably no bigger than any others... A bit like the Dimple pint pot, it was a masterclass in deception, with it's heavy ribbing... Ideal for home brewing, as I found out later 3d back on the bottles too I seem to remember, which I would always trouser if I could get to the door before my Dad

As a kid in San Antonio, Tx in the 70's, we'd head trough the woods, up hill to a gas station just outside the corner of the neighborhood. It had the old style soda vending machine where you had to open the narrow glass door on the side and grab a bottle from a metal holder thingy. Those 10 ounce ice cold thick glass bottle Coca-Colas are still the best drinks I ever tasted on a hot and muggy summer day. You'd drink the whole bottle right there, and then put the empty bottle into a wooden holder crate next to the soda machine. Awesome.

Anyone remember burrows & Sturgess , used to love there dandelion and burdock, American cream soda , 3d on the return as well Reminds of a story my dad used to tell me when he watched Peterborough Utd and there main stand had hard wooden seats And they gave fans a option to hire a cushion for tuppence deposit refundable and the local kids used to run around like hellions after the game grabbing as many of the left behind cushions as they could before the stewards used to putt a stop to it And the money gained used to pay for their chips and pop on the way home

A disgusting beverage if ever there was one, on a par with cream soda! Dandelion & Burdcock is OK but goes flat far to quick Known as Root Beer in the States (I think). When I was a weather forecaster on the local T.V. station in Montana in 1971, the forecast was usually preceded by an ad. for Root Beer and closed with an ad. for diapers. In at one end and out at the other all in a space of 3 minutes.

Don't mind cream soda but it's got to be bloody cold and then in small quantities. Fond memories of the corona lorry when we were at Cellarhead, mum had a place in the kitchen just for the returns.

Alpine pop was in massive bottles and went flat as fuck in about ten minutes.
Panda Pops in small stubby bottles. Really sickly sweet and fizzy. Some of the drinks were really garish colours too. God knows what shit was in them.
Hubbly Bubbly was a favourite in the heavy dimpled glass bottles.
Cresta ! The polar bear on the can. It’s frothy man. ( it was too and as sickly as fuck).
Kia Ora at the pictures. Orange coloured water.
