Fair play to Carlos Corberan. His best players are being sold to Forest. He knows that he is facing a situation nearly as bad as MON did here, and realises that even doing that job well would be unlikely to enhance his reputation. Very few managers who have other options are willing to undertake four or five years of hard slog with no resources and the likelyhood that even if you unearth a few gems that they will be sold on. It shows you how important penaly decisions can be. If they had gone up they would be buying now,not selling.

Huddersfield may come after O'Neill - you just never know 1. They couldn't afford him. 2. Why would he want to begin again from scratch when it has taken 2.5 years to get Stoke to a position where they can look forward, instead of over their shoulder in trepidation.

[br Why wait until November, lack of ambition John!!!!! Because Nuno has got a job one where he's clearly gone for money not for footballing prestige as such he's probably want to trouser that money for a few months at least we can't just 'show ambition' i.e. chuck money at it because of FFP restrictions no point spending £millions getting a top manager only to have a 10 point deduction e.t.c. like any new players any new manger has got to be relatively cheap We just need to hire pep. Sign the Manchester City team then who cares about the point deductions. 🤣🤣

The appointment and whether the new manager gets the transfer fees to spend will tell a story. Unless Huddersfield gambled, lost and have to retrench it would be strange that a manager who finished 3rd would not be willing to have another go. Unless he reckons that that is as good as it gets and now is the best time to move. Time will tell. Who can they attract?

Mark Hughes perhaps, now that he is back in the game?

Rumour around Huddersfield is that Corboran is going back to Leeds as assistant manager.
Not sure how true that will be but if it comes to fruition that will be two managers that have left their posts to be an assistant in the PL.
Sign of the times with the nu-age modern coach getting burnt out after a couple of seasons or just a coincidence?

The Premier League is getting more and more powerful each year, and the Championship is the obvious casualty.

It amazes me how a bloke who couldn't buy a win and who took his last team down in breathtaking fashion after totally losing the dressing room is now favourite to keep a new club up. Ridiculous.

The board at Bournemouth clearly don't agree with his assessment then? He wanted more backing so they've sacked him, that's football.

Wonder if this is what Dyche was waiting for. Or is it too early for a prem team to go down the Dyche route?
