Tomasson and Company would have been great appointments to take over from O'neil. Our owners have plenty of cash but don't have that desire to succeed!!!!!! they do have the desire too succeed hence why they wrote off nearly 200 million.. they just make the wrong decisions an trust managers too much maybe Denise needs too have a say as since johns got more involved it’s all gone tits up.. even now.. say after 10 games it doesn’t work out with mon.. any other club would sack him but I bet we give him the rest of the season

Just reading that former Premier league winners Blackburn haven't made the play offs once in their 10 year absence from the top division. Why do our fans feel so entitled? By the way, Blackburn have the same number of Premiership titles as Liverpool. Man City are reckoned to be worth 4 billion quid and win virtually everything. By the way, the owner of Stoke and his family are worth an estimated 12 billion quid and we can't even come close to a play off spot in a league where a team like Luton, who are run on a shoestring budget finish above us. Don't you think we should be doing better? I think this is where it gets a bit confusing, the Coates families wealth is generated by Bet365 of which Stoke City is a tiny loss making entity, the family and Bet365 have other responsibilities than Stoke City. Manchester City are possibly worth 4 billion in their own right but they are owned by part of the Saudi Royal family who due to oil are born into money, they are not reliant on a company to generate their wealth. The Saudi owners of Manchester City are in a different stratosphere to the Coates family, the only similarity is the word Billionaires, this is a bit of a chicken and egg moment, Manchester City’s home attendances are probably doubles Stokes :- more income, Manchester City’s sponsorship dwarfs Stokes :- more income, Manchester City’s prize money, well do Stoke get any ? :- more income. Now it could be argued that all Manchester City’s success and all that extra revenue couldn’t be achieved without the Saudi owners and I think that you would be correct, but don’t think that in their own way that the Coates families investment in Stoke City is any less, due to being hamstrung by the EFLs version of FFP they can’t splash the cash on players, they instead re invest into the stadium and training ground, keep season tickets at a frozen price and provide free away travel, at the moment success for the Coates family is to keep Stoke City alive.

Anybody that thinks that any owner of any football club doesn’t have the desire to succeed is a fucking idiot. Our owners, like any other, want to succeed - they just lack the execution, and have made many poor decisions.

If we were actually allowed to spend any of that 12 billion and if our owners had the desire and capability to match Man City's spending, then I dare say we would do much better. The parachute payments should have helped us enormously, like it does regularly for the yo-yo clubs, Fulham, WBA, Norwich etc but we wasted the opportunity by prioritising paying off Hughes' disastrous signings. However that should be over now and with the new FFP rules surely they can now invest in better players? You’ve forgot about Rowett, that C##t did far more damage than Hughes. Everyone seems to think Hughes was the sole reason we’re in the shit, Rowett the C##t did far more damage!!!!!

Man City owners were ruthlessly determined to break into the elite whatever it took financially or bending the rules to breaking point. The Coates that we have involved with Stoke do not/did not ever have such ruthless determination. They'd like to be more successful but "whatever it takes"no sorry I just haven't seen that. They may have felt a little guilty after relegation so threw a larger than usual wedge at redeeming themselves but beyond providing money what risks have they been willing to take?

So you would be more than happy if Peter Coates didn’t sink his wealth into Stoke City ? He didn’t have to, I mean who in their right mind would invest in any football club because it’s rarer than rocking horse shit that you make a profit and it’s more than a certainty that you lose your money. You suggest that Peter Coates lacks ruthlessness ? I doubt this very much because to accumulate the vast fortune that the Coates family have you must be a hard faced bastard somewhere down the line ! I didn’t compare the Coates family with the Arabian royalty who own Manchester City apart from the word Billionaire ? Peter Coates always strikes me as Old School and does things by the book, but I doubt very much that he’s a mug ! His son Jon, I don’t know anything about him so I can’t comment other that he seems to be the new custodian of Stoke City who’s making some dodgy decisions.

It's not all about attracting top players though is it? They would have much better coaching method than dinosaur O'neil and ginger nut !! They would also attract top promising loans from the big clubs, anyone mention Delap? Those would be the plans to build us into promotion candidates, see what I'm getting at!!!!!!

I must have missed O'Neill's run in the Allsvenskan, who did he manage? He won the league with one of the biggest clubs in Sweden, it's decent but not much indication of whether he's any good or not. His time managing in the Eredivisie, a league that Steve McClaren won, doesn't scream 'managerial genius', it was a disaster.

Peter and John are billionaires because of Denise. Being old school and doing things by the book doesn’t really equate to ruthless determination and whatever it takes. PC certainly seems to get off very lightly in your mind being as he took us to the third tier twice out of a total of three times in our history, suggests he’s made his fair share of dodgy decisions. I’m very happy with them sinking their money into Stoke, just think we’d all be better off if they employed someone who knew what the fuck they were doing to run the club for them like Joe Lewis instead of stumbling from one self imposed wound to the next.
