Oh really did we? You mean so he would come to us for less than 12 months and steer us to 10th in the Championship before jumping ship at the first call from the premier league? 🤔 Rumour was he would have come to Stoke when we sacked Hughes when it was very possible to have saved us. I even suggested him to people who sit round us to get shouted down with comments like, "He's only done it in Norway, no way could he manage in the Premier." Instead we went with 'a safe pair of hands' Lambert. Then when he got sacked my understanding was that Potter made it clear to the board that he wanted the job to get overlooked for Rowett so he went to Swansea to prove how wrong we'd been. He's an ex Stokie and I'm sure he'd be still here now and we'd be in the Premier if we'd taken the risk. Yeah I remember all the rumours and I was favoured to the idea. I dunno if he’d not have moved on to the Prem though if he did a similar job with us as he did Swans. I dunno if he would have lasted here anyway, we were doomed with the toxic mentality within the squad and although he’s proved himself to work well with what’s been handed down to him, he hasn’t been very active with transfer wranglings. I think we have a very similar manager now in MoN, who seems to be realistic and has a way of building a good squad ethos.

I can remember reading about his first week at Swansea when it said he'd sent the first team squad out to litter pick around Swansea because he wanted them to do something for the community while meeting fans and finding out what it was like doing an everyday job. I liked him from the minute I read that.

Sheffield United appointed Paul Heckingbottom on a 4 1/2 year deal
That is a very peculiar appointment.

Rangnick has been a significant influence on managers like Klopp and Tuchel, as interim appointments go it’s potentially a very shrewd one indeed.

Would they go for Rooney? They are a complete mess of a football club so probably yeah. The Benitez experiment was always destined to end in tears.

This thread title reminded me of Fantasy Football and I always used to chuckle at this part of the show.

Job complete for agent Benitez! Joking aside I think this is a rushed decision by Everton. What on Earth do they expect? I believe he would have had them top 6ish next season.

At this stage you've got to be starting to ask the question about Benitez and how much longer he can manage at the top level? Was bang average at Newcastle in the PL, and at one point his stats were worse than Bruce, and now what he is doing to Everton. Granted, a tough job there but all the same.
Manager's have a shelf life and you wonder how much longer his drill sergeant style of management, coupled with his pragmatic style can last?

Mate they lost to Norwich. Yeah and they'll appoint Rooney, now I think he's done a great job at Derby but not sure it will go well there, although I think Gerrard will be a great manager, maybe Wayne could do a job as well.
