... penalties we have had awarded in a season ever? Just two
Even 1984-85 we had more
Not too many against us either

Shouldn’t have needed VAR we play in slow motion anyway.

And yet the turning point of the season was a missed penalty by Vokes.
Life is strange sometimes.

95-96, we got our first penalty in the final match. Still made the playoffs.

Let's face it, whatever time he has spent on the pitch proved that the manager had very little faith in him. I don’t think it matters. He just shouldn’t have been used. I think this is an over-reaction and pretty easy to say in hindsight. He's the one player we would have got rid of we would have been able. He's had the odd cameo appearance where if he had fluffed his chances in a different way and somehow managed to find the net (like he did v Sheff Weds) folk would have probably been calling for him to be used more. It's small margins really. On paper he should be experienced enough to able to put the odd chance away. He's only got on the pitch where the options have been ridiculously limited, so I don't know why people are getting their knickers in a twist about him coming on for 2 minutes at Bournemouth and the like. I want him out as much as the next and probably as much as MON. My heart sank when he took the ball for the Cardiff pen I must admit. Anyway, I have thought some refs are giving less pens because they don't experience as much adrenalin without a crowd. Though I'm not sure there would have been that much adrenalin at Stoke! At the same time I'm also of the opinion that the nature of the football would have been very different with a crowd, you cant just assume our performances would have been similar and the course of the season could have taken a very different path. Sliding doors and all that. For example, I don't think Liverpool, or Sheffield United's seasons would have been like this with their crowds.

The 04/05 season another low one. Clive Clarke scored on the opening day against Wolves. We didn't get another until March against Brighton. Gifton scored two penalties against them in the space of about five minutes.

That's astonishing Sheron and Sturridge on fire and only one penalty Dont think we scored from a penalty all season in 95/96 which as you say is astonishing given the form of Sheron, Sturridge and earlier on Pesch. That team had plenty of goals in it Shezza,s goal in the final match definately wasnt a pen....cant honestly remember if we missed one or not
