How much a teams performance can suffer if they lose more than half their team and have nothing to play for. Like it or not despite an excellent performance today from us it does demonstrate how much up until today our recent results have been affected by being on the beach / injuries. We are nowhere near as bad as some think we are if we have a fit squad / something to play for. If we can 3/4 first team additions for next season we should do OK.

They wiped the floor with us earlier in the season and showed the gulf between us both when they have something to play for. Can never take anything from results start and end of a season.

It will be hilarious if they somehow fluke the play offs and go into the Prem with clueless Woodgate in charge.

And don’t agree re nothing to play for. They wouldn’t have wanted to go into the play offs off the back of a loss.

I recall Solanke having a not so easy one on one first half. I don't think they created anything else.

Who were they missing btw?
Their front line was ridiculously strong on paper at least.

Are we thinking about the same game? Live on Sky around Christmas time? Absolutely nothing in it at all, could easily have gone either way.

tbh I think Bournmouth would have preferred 5th place and playing Swansea rather than 6th and facing Brentford in the semis

Simply didn't happen. Tight game and won by the only goal. We had chances and didn't take them. Were the better team for an hour or so but my bet is that my floor is a lot cleaner than yours if that is how you wipe it

They lost half their side? And don’t agree re nothing to play for. They wouldn’t have wanted to go into the play offs off the back of a loss. Didnt they rest 8? and where dead rubbers go that’s as close as it gets. They certainly wouldn’t be going for it and risking injuries.

Today was their strongest lineup if Twitter is to be believed

We are nowhere near as bad as some think we are if we have a fit squad / something to play for. If we can 3/4 first team additions for next season we should do OK. I don't think they didn't have anything to play for. They were 5th before the game, now they're 6th. This means where they might have expected a cosy tie vs Swansea, they now have to play Brentford, who stayed in 3rd, ten pts clear of them, to give you an idea of the task ahead. Moreover I don't think they were really a weakened team. Granted, I don't follow them and don't know their usual line up, but a lot of their star players were on today. I do think after watching about five minutes of Rob's recording, the minutes before and after Will's goal, that they might have been playing as if their manager had told them, for god's sake don't get injured by Stoke's thugs, so they might have been holding back a little. Or a lot, and when you do that you lose. Our gain.

Either way we had plenty missing yet again and a bench full of kids. If they rested a few so what? Am sure those playing are keen enough to make the play off team and weren't out for an ice cream and a stroll any more than we were

They wiped the floor with us earlier in the season and showed the gulf between us both when they have something to play for. Can never take anything from results start and end of a season. If i remember correctly , i believe the main concensus after the game was that Stoke should have won it with the difference being they had a top striker in Solanko who scored the only goal.

They definitely didn't want to lose today that's why they brought their best players back in for this game. They wanted to avoid Brentford.
Plus, who wants to go in to Play-Offs on the back of 3 defeats???

I thought that it wasn’t far off Bournemouth’s strongest line up- no Wilshere but Brookes , Solanki , Pearson & Billings all started. Defence seemed to be their normal line up?

Dont think they were on the beach today
My Bournemouth mate said they very much needed the win to have a bit of form going in to the playoffs
I’ve slated us in recent weeks so ill give credit where its due tonight, an excellent win
