Pity Preston won but 60 points is an improvement on last season

Slightly off topic but remember the days of running onto the pitch on the last day to ambush players for their clothes, boots , shin pads, anything you could get hold of

Is pretty damn imressive. When was the last time we lost, probably under TP im guessing? 2011…. According to R5 today. That would be FA Cup Final season…. Stoke 0 Wigan 1 Wigan survival day…. Giving them the platform to beat Man City in the FA Cup final in 2013 … Hugo Rodallega: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/13444536

You know the time will come when we really need a last day win. And we'll lose.

Problem in the past is that it’s created false hope that a manager has turned the corner or a usually rubbish player is the answer to our problems.

And last win on opening game? Burnley? Listening to radio Stoke earlier and the Vale are completely different. No opening day loss for 15 years apparently?

I'd spent quite big wedge on buying a spare cup final ticket from a poster on here a couple of weeks before, and thought I could recoup my outlay by sticking 200 on a Stoke win, backed up with a ton on the draw...I'm in my late 50s and that was and still is the only time I'd ventured into a bookies. Lesson well and truly learnt!

As good as it may be, how comfortable would you feel if our last game had something riding on it? I may well have forgotten the odd game, but aside from the Leicester game for promotion, were any of these games important or were they all dead rubbers in recent times? Beyond this I think we are going back to the play off final and the game versus Reading which both left me in need of a serious drink.

Was it a last day win against West Ham that secured our 3rd consecutive 9th place finish when Hughes had already started to unravel. Sometimes these wins prove to be more of a curse.

Is pretty damn imressive. When was the last time we lost, probably under TP im guessing? Arsenal 0-4 under Hughes That must have been the season after we beat WHU on the last day so Hughes had already been suffering his malaise for well over 12 months and still they did nothing.

As I recall Hughes’s last day finishes were as follows West brom (a) 2-1 Liverpool (h) 6-1 West Ham (h) 2-1 Saints (a) 1-0 Swansea (a) 2-1 (he had already been sacked at that point)

I think that was the last home game. The actual last game of that season was a 1-0 win at Southampton. Must have been less than 1500 in the ground by the final whistle which we didn’t wait for but there were hardly any left when we left with a few minutes to go. Talk about a loud and clear message ignored.

I must have been so demoralized i forgot about the Saints win or just forgot because i'm forgetful Me too, much as I appreciated the pinnacle of football he’d achieved around the turn of the year the previous season he’d regressed so far by that point even I wanted him out and I’d been an advocate of employing him well before he came to the club. The board should have had enough time to see he’d run out of steam/come to the end of his shelf life in the job. Unforgivable.
