But...but...he's World Class!!?? One of the most overrated Players I’ve seen play for us, yet some think he was brilliant. He is brilliant when his mind is right! Always good for Nigeria and the Watford fans seem to love him already. Unfortunately it ended up like he wasn't interested in playing for us, but he is a very good player, no doubt about that as I see it.

Not a chance in hell Powell has played that well this season 😂😂 Your hatred for stats over your own agenda continues. Did you get back to me on the Verlinden thread?

Because they’re a nonsense on the whole with average ratings like this. Take the Reading game for instance he scored one and set up one which statistically is excellent and will rate high but he didn’t play well. His only good game so far was the Swansea game. So yeah I’d always take opinion over stats because they add context. You can score two and still badly. Stats wouldn’t show that.

So Galatasary have decided not to offer him a deal and he is going to be returning. He’s still got 2 years on his contract, and I doubt there will be many after him from the UK or abroad. I know many on here will not be bothered but can MON get a tune out of him. Hes had a lot of injuries while out on loan but in this crap league maybe he would be an asset. Or do we just keep paying his wages and let him rot. Crap league? You'd have thought we'd have walked it by now.
For these particular ratings your guess is incorrect. The ratings are based on quantifying every on field action. So, ball carries, passes, aerial duels, interceptions, loss of possessions etc. Goals/assists, per se, aren't rated any differently than any other completed action. Simply the probabilistic landscape changes as you get closer to each goalmouth. For example Powell's goal vs Reading. The likelihood of scoring from the position of Smith's free kick to the position where Powell makes contact with the ball rises from 0.01 to 0.51. That increase is shared between Smith & Powell. For Powell's assist of Brown's goal, the rise is much more modest, 0.02 to 0.03. It doesn't miss any of the action & it records for all 29 players on the pitch. It can be contextualised by position, area of the field, stylistic & performance output of the team someone plays for etc. It's given a single score out of ten to make it accessible.

What do the Watford fans actually think about him? That’s a better measure. They probably think “oooh shiny new free thing”. Opinions are complicated by so many biases. At the beginning of a signing, many will be happy to believe that a very average player is good, because they want to believe it. They’ll excuse a lot of deficiencies. Over the course of the season, I’d be shocked if the opinion of their average fan didn’t reflect the stats generated.

And there’s still not a chance he’s played that well 😂 Why?
Because he hasn’t played well bar the Swansea game. He was really below standard against Reading. His passing was when he’s not on it and doing the half arsed lazy ones. He was just poor.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/africa/59801217Etebo not going to AFCON to "focus on rehabilitation from injury". The report refers to him as "Stoke City loanee". If he is still our player then this smells of Watford protecting "their" asset - a decent AFCON could have put him in the window and given us a chance of getting some money back.
