I have not lived in Stoke for many years but obviously have many connections and visit friends regularly. I would like to know what Oatcakers think of the work of local councillors. My brother who still lives in Stoke cannot speak highly enough of this man www.stokeconservatives.com/dr-chandra-kanneganti/Similarly he was my mother's doctor and she held him in equally high esteem. My friends in Sandyford also speak highly of him. This seems unusual as the default position always seems to be to criticise both national and local politicians . How are the others doing?

I didn't know that there was such a thing. Perhaps we have too many " days" for things? /

Mine seems alright. Contacted him on a number of matters and always replies and checks in with progress reports. Can’t really ask for more🤷🏻♂️

I guess it all depends what reason someone becomes a councillor for which influences how good they are. If they see it as being a stepping stone to a career in politics then generally they will very quickly lose any honesty and integrity as they conform and comply with party politics.
If they join with a genuine wish to help their communities then they tend to be better and can on occasions even kick back against the party wishes, but eventually will succumb to head office loyalty and direction.
I think the best ones in my experience tend to be the independents as without the influence of party politics they will usually do the right thing. I personally think that party politics should be excluded at local level and all candidates should only be independent.

The influence they hold at times prevents sanity prevailing amongst LA officers. My only recent experience with one through work was positive though, treated respectfully and prepared to listen. It should be a position of vocation, not for personal advancement and gain. That might lead to people workit together for the good of the city, rather than playing out petty political squabbles.

My brother knows him quite well....can't speak highly enough of him...seems to put people before party politics....so , for me, being a Tory is secondary, if it registers at all.

My mum and dad know his family well and would regard them as friends, I have met him on several occasions and would concur that he is indeed a very nice man. The Tory jibe was a joke, I'll put a smiley face on it next time John just for you.......
