Don't understand the reference to "by end of next month"? That will be the date he enters the final year of his contract.....aren't players freely allowed to discuss deals with other clubs at that point?

. Ridiculous if true. Surely even in the current climate we could find someone to pay £750k/£1m for him? Not likely because of his high wages Unless a premier League club wants him which seems unlikely

That's where we are at Highly improbable we will get fees for Clucas, Allen or majority of the players loaned out So question is do we want to keep them or are we happy to let them go on frees slashing the wage bill? Would that allow room for incomings? If this season is anything to go by we need a mix of experience to help the youngsters who are getting first team opportunities Injuries have meant the squad have been stretched If we can offload some of those returning from loans then I would prefer him to stay So would I But what if we can't offload the high earning loan players? We can only move on players other clubs will want

Don't understand the reference to "by end of next month"? Some sort of clause in his contract presumably kicks in? Either that or Stoke putting artificial deadlines on it?

I would say he can go on a free if they take Vokes as well. That would be two wages saved.
Probably won’t happen .

Don't understand the reference to "by end of next month"? Football club accounts are to 31st May from memory so probably want any pay off / ffp loss in 31/5/21 accounts rather than 31/5/22.

Don't think so, think that happens at 6 months I e in January He must have a 3.5 year contract then 😉 Players who are out of contract that season can talk to other other clubs in the January window to arrange a new club for the summer. Not sure - but there might be something in that it can’t be another club from the same league.

Yeah, some kind of accounting/FFP reason would make sense if Nixon is correct

Sadly folks this is defo happening, I was told by a family member who is close with Sam that he is defo leaving, also he is in contract but the club are prepared to let him go for free to get him off the wage bill. Shame because he is settled in the area with his young family but but the club have no intention of offering a new deal due his wages.

As long as it assists with FFP I won’t be bothered at all if he goes. We paid over the top, gave a daft contract, bought him injured and had one reasonable season from him. Another in the long list of poor deals. The future is without him, so onwards and hopefully upwards.

I can understand with the wages but as a club we are bloody wealthy which is also annoying.

Wouldn’t be sad to see all our senior midfielders leave tbh they’re a very poor blend. Need more physicality from some and creativity from others.

He,d be one of the few I’d keep, certainly ahead of say Allen, but if hes on massive bucks so be it

No sentiment here. Any of the squad outside of the young and up and coming players can go for me. This expensive bundle of shite we have amassed has taken us to three bottom half finishes in the Championship and given us one hell of a brush with League One.
Get them gone.

His summer wages would not be far short of any possible fee so makes sense, although I could see him being a contender for a regular place in a ,hopefully, rejuvenated Stoke team next season. Unfortunately we can’t afford him.

One decent season, and 'Shushgate' is what he'll be remembered for.
Guaranteed to score against us next season.

These players have the odd good game and some think they are ace. Look at their performances over the two or three year period and you realise just how very poor they are.

Ideally Clucas is last on the list from midfield to be letting go.
Thompson - no brainer, get rid. Useless Allen - useless and expensive Mikel - ok but needs to be managed better Clucas - useful when fit but expensive

Dpw to appalling commercial management on that basis the appalling decisions to give contracts at the level they are to the likes of Vokes and Ince etc are costing us our best players Clucas , possibly Powell some of the youngsters etc and meanwhile the contract negotiator picks up 850k a year with immunity surely at some point the spotlight will fall on the those truly accountable as even the greatest deniers haven't said the chef executive ha nothing to do with contracts .losing `clucuias ion a free is utterly ridiculous in this market in this league

How on earth has this maggot been allowed to gain such a position of power in the club.
