Don’t think so. Getting back to fitness performance. He was very good today, no question. Injuries have limited his contributions? If we have him for one more season, then leats go for it. MoN, are you listening? 😄

That's where we are at Highly improbable we will get fees for Clucas, Allen or majority of the players loaned out So question is do we want to keep them or are we happy to let them go on frees slashing the wage bill? Would that allow room for incomings?

. Ridiculous if true. Surely even in the current climate we could find someone to pay £750k/£1m for him?

Not sure what position he fits best in what formation. Lacks physicality and aggression to me for a deep lying role which I believe he prefers.

He signed his current deal here one year after signing a 4-yr deal as a £15m Premier League player. I know he was disgruntled at Swansea, but he wouldn't have accepted much of a drop, would he? I dread to think what he's on. talksport.com/football/407978/burnley-transfer-news-sam-clucas-swansea/Even Burnley couldn't compete with the deal he got at Swansea the year before Given the type of clubs who'd be interested in him, as with Allen, in the current post-Covid climate, asking for a fee in addition to taking on the final year of his massive contract, may be too much?

If he's going on a free, you'd think he'd end up at Boro, since Warnock loves him.
Wouldn't be surprised to see McNair involved in a deal if that could be done.

Maybe the McNair ship has sailed though? Warnock has said he's the best player he's ever managed, compared him to Franz Beckenbauer and given him a new long-term deal! Looking back, that would have been a hell of a coup last summer if we would have been prepared to let Clucas go then

Would that allow room for incomings? If this season is anything to go by we need a mix of experience to help the youngsters who are getting first team opportunities Injuries have meant the squad have been stretched If we can offload some of those returning from loans then I would prefer him to stay

Wilder would have been another one to do a deal if he was still at Sheff Utd. Has come close to signing him twice. Wasn't aware of the new deal at their end.

Clucks out, Corey Evans in maybe. Evans would be on less wages I’d imagine.

Either way, would have been a ridiculously good deal in hindsight. But Clucas was viewed very differently this time last year!

Ahh yes the old cheeky comment. I'd say it was more than that given how he sent half his team after him in the home game this season, although maybe the engine fumes caused that. We really believe you Neil...

We can't just give him away, can we? I guess we have to recoup something due to FFP? If we could get close to £2M for him I wouldn't mind seeing him go as I think his contribution over a season is too little. Very injury prone and not getting any younger. Now is the time to sell if possible!

If he goes to Blackburn, you’d think he’ll be on much lower wages than now so we will probably be giving him some kind of pay-off as well as giving him away for free.

I think MON alluded to having too many 30+ players and possibly they are having a bit of a cull this summer, Clucas, Allen etc + they are probably on big wages.

For people asking ‘why let him go on a free tho? - he’s still got a year contract / surely we can get some money for him etc etc
He’s reportedly in 40k a week - that equates to £2m a year. Letting him go with a year remaining is the equivalent of us getting £2m to play with if the other team buys out his contract - which I’m guessing is how it would work. It also frees up a place in the squad (and frees up all the resources involved such as physio/coaching plans etc) for a younger, better suited player.
He does chip in with a few goals but for me he doesn’t do enough in the middle of the pitch, doesn’t dictate play, has no presence and for his experience doesn’t seem to offer any leadership and takes up a spot in the hope that he’ll suddenly get a goal from no where which only really happens once every 20 odd games.

Blackburn struggled to finance a deal for that left back from Crewe didn't they? Can't see them affording one for Sam Clucas!

Would be happy with a P/X with Rothwell if, as reported, Blackburn are keen. It's the reference to a 'free' which threw me, given that he's under contract.
