Like Clarke. Not arsed.
He was very good today though.
Two poor signings when we needed two to push us on.

He has two games to impress, I have no doubt his stay has been hampered by niggly injuries but not convinced he's what we need......

He had two or three decent runs today but his control and decision making were generally poor. If we were planning to start an athletics club I might consider signing him as a sprinter but as a footballer no thanks.

He's not for me. We've been that desperate for pace that anyone who breaks into a gentle jog is seen to be good and today aside he's been really, really poor.

He could be a real asset (and presumably reasonably cheap) next year on today's showing but no idea if he can follow it up. He's obviously got summat about him.

Like most players, gets written off as soon as he puts the shirt on for ten minutes. Think everyone was hoping he would take it by storm due to a massive previous transfer fee. That’s not his fault, he’s a kid. I’d personally be happy to take him on another loan next season. There’s definitely a player there

Well I for one would like to see Matondo, Clarke and Norrington-Davies in the squad at the start of next season.

It was obvious from day one he had talent, but he was a longer term development project that far outstretched this season, hence the bewilderment of the loan. Frustratingly, it was the type of deal we could and should have done post relegation.
The deal we've done for him (6M) was easily affordable then and more fiscally prudent than the 12M we lumped on the likes of Afobe and Ince, and arguably the 6M we lumped on McClean, Woods and Clucas (possibly harsh on Clucas).
Frustrating is the right word I think. Frustrating we don't have that money now, frustrating we didn't have O'Neill and his recruitment strategy back then and most frustrating of all, that our owners have made us so reliant on managers over the years for recruitment of players.

I didn't watch this afternoon but he's been absolutely appalling in pretty much every appearance before today.
We need someone who's able to come in and do the business 9 times out of 10, not someone who has one good game every three months.

Showed what he can do today. If only we had picked regularly n given him a real chance ,
Instead after a couple of poor showings he’s hardly picked again.
Players need games sometimes.

I think I’d take another punt next year, a pool of Doherty and Campbell (injuries depending) matondo + Brown/one more is there or there about for me.
You do worry how many they’ll score (outside of Campbell) and we won’t be able to afford a 20+ a season striker to replace Fletcher so we need 4/5 players in double figures with Campbell in the 15+ bracket.

I'd rather support our own players, he's not shown enough. Like who, in that position? Alfie will play, Tyrese will play, Norton or Varian should get a few games second half of the season. I'd like to see them both get a loan out and come back in Jan. Like it or Brown is going to play, Powell will start when fit so if Th and Alfie are fit that's all the front berths covered with JM and Tymon as cover. The two loanees haven't changed a single game so why spend the money repeating the mistake ?

If you measure him against say Liam Lawrence in our promotion season, it's not even comparable. What was it, 14 goals Lawrence scored and 10+ assists?
This guy is nowhere close and the fact we are clinging onto him being the answer shows how far we've sunk.
Sack him off and get a proven, quality winger.

Done enough for another loan next season, first time I’ve seen a stoke player beat 3 players, since Imbula did it on his cameo in the prem.

Think people are forgetting the bloke is TWENTY YEARS OLD!! Yes he's very raw, yes he makes bad decisions, but he has age on his side and is rapid. We should be looking at signing YOUNG players with potential, just like him. Give me a signing like rabi over a past it Chester or Mikel any day of the week. I'd rather see us give young players a go and a opportunity to be a spring board in a very good career instead of a final bumper payday.

We need someone who's able to come in and do the business 9 times out of 10, not someone who has one good game every three months. I don’t necessarily disagree but it might just be that he needed to build his confidence up a bit after a rough time of things. I appreciate that’s not idea for a loan spell when you need to hit the ground running, but I’d start him for the last couple of games just to see if he can keep it going. I just recall Bojan struggling a bit until his confidence grew and then he just clicked for that incredible run. I’m not saying this is anything like that, just that sometimes it’s what players need.
