He’s just not very good.
And I think MON knows that, but we’re down to the bare bones.
The likes of Tymon and Smith have got to be moved on if we want to progress next season, it’s an absolute must......

Least of our worries today, quick and gets into some decent positions.
I just wish he would take on his man a bit more, sometimes he looks a bit confused as to what to do.

A nothing player. A position filler.

He hasn't got a clue what to do with the ball! He is so indecisive on the ball that it's painful!

Ive never seen anyone so bemused by a football and is non-attempt to keep out the goalscorer for the 2nd goal was pure nonchalance. I think he is a big problem because we are trying to use him as a main supply to front players and he just cant hack it. Him and Smith are of the same make. No footballing brain. Smith does get the odd decent ball in but he's brainless.

The second goal was atrocious from him.
He’s not a left wing back. We’ve known this for a long time.

At least we do know Verlinden could beat a man, I haven't seen Matondo do it once since he's been here.

Not sure why we have to single him out. He is symptomatic of the squad as in when he gets the ball you know the best we can hope for is that A) he does not lose it or miss control or get easily knocked off the ball B) Can he find a man with a simple pass C) if he tries to cross the ball - hope it will get past the first defender. Pretty much describes most of our players though. Thought Tymon did ok tonight as in got involved never went missing and got in some good positions. We are just a bit Beige at the moment and lack a bit of quality. Mikel did a great interception in the 2nd half which led to a 3 v 3 breakaway and yet his first thought was still to stop and pass the ball backwards even though there was nobody to pass to. It's a hard watch

He's just another warm body to throw in to the fray.
To be honest he's no better than me and I'm a middle aged man with a desk job.

It's a hard watch It wasn't my intention to single him out, but just try and understand what he is and what we are looking to get out of him? I'm genuinely bemused. He's definitely not a defender (see the 2nd goal!!). He looks so uncomfortable on the ball, he looks like he shapes up for a decent cross, but does he ever deliver one? He looks like he needs an age to decide what he is going to do with the ball. Yes he does get in decent positions. I'm not picking on him, just wondering where we hope to go with him, if anywhere? I might be missing something.

I might be missing something. Yes, agree with most of that, but could be describing a number of our players. We need quality all over the park and need to improve the first 11 and squad dramatically, but we may have to wait a while and that may mean persevering with the youngsters and some other players, particularly players who put in a shift for the cause

I was hoping that he and Thompson would make headway this season and make themselves regular starters. Both have failed to make any impact on what is a truly awful midfield in which the best player can only be described as a run of mill mid championship player who simply does his job better than the others. (Not including Powell as part of that midfield, of course). It's a shame because as young professionals it shouldn't be hard to outperform players like Mikel, Allen or Clucas(this seasons Clucas).

He's played his best games, relatively speaking, in central midfield. He can actually do a job, preferably as a sub, playing wide with a fullback behind him. A mf cum winger if you like.
He's shown he's better there than as a defender, yet MON keeps returning him to play lwb. So I blame MON for being foolhardy in trying again, again, and again to play him in his worst position.

He was decent in midfield with Cousins for that run of games they had together. Only time he has ever shown something is in that position.
