Fair play to Cummins a genuine and lovely guy. Cricketers whilst very comfortable aren't Premier League football rich so that's very generous of him...... Before the IPL started the organisers knew that Coronavirus could be extremely challenging for the tournament. The key thing for them is the integrity of the bio-bubbles. As long as they are working well enough the tournament will, I think, continue. As Pat Cummins says it does provide some joy and respite which is something that needs to be considered.

I think the issue might be the Indian players whose families are getting ill as the virus spreads, Ashwin has already left and others seem likely to follow. It might get to the stage where they just want to be home and focusing on their loved ones......

Good win for Warwickshire yesterday Another solid performance from Olly Stone, I'd really like to see him given a run of games for England. Sam Hain looking good as well......

We've been a bit crap for a few years now, but it's possible we might have a half decent side this year. Vihari might be a decent acquisition and Miles had a very good game with the ball. Essex are probably still the side to beat, so it was a good win.

Yeah, it's weird but I quite like it. In each division they play each other twice (10 games). Top two from each division then form a six team First division, third and fourth from each division form the Second division and bottom two form the Third Division. In each new division, the teams play the other four teams twice (carrying over their results versus the team that came with them from their original division, so there is no need to play them again). So every team will play a total of 18 games, with the top team in the First Division being crowned County Champions. I think the top two also play off for the Bob Willis Trophy. Don't know if they intend to keep it going each year with newly drawn groups and the same format?

It reminds me a little bit of the Rugby 7s tournament approach, where the best teams compete for the trophy, the next lot go for the Cup, then the lowest ones play for the Plate.

It’s been quite a start to the season for Haseeb Hameed after his spectacular fall from grace over the past couple of years.
It seems the move to Notts has done him the world of good. On current form and with England’s continuing opening woes it might not be long until he’s back on the selection agenda.

Buttler time in the IPL today - 124.
In a winning cause too as RR beat SRH.
Interesting news from SRH, as suggested earlier in this thread, Warner has been replaced as captain by Williamson and dropped.
Following on from that amazing knock by Pollard yesterday, the IPL is cooking up a storm.
It looks like the show is going on... for now at least.

I don't know if Williamson is planning on staying in India for the whole tournament but if he does then with the 2 week hotel quarantine now in place for arrivals from India, he will be ruled out of the test series against England. I have a fear that the Eng vs NZ series will turn into a farce with both sides forced to play weakened teams.

It’ll be a good opportunity to have a look at one or two currently on the fringes of the side. It’ll be a decent warm up for what should be an excellent series against India.

I hope not. I remember some positive covid cases in football - but that kept going. I think, for now, it will continue.

Yeah I'm just a boring old traditionalist and I struggle to cope with the IPL being more important than Test Cricket.

When does the New Zealand series start? I can’t be arsed to look. And the bastards have overtaken us this week as the worlds number 1 one day side! Retribution required! Fair play to them though, they were easy meat a couple of decades ago but are now producing some of the finest cricketers on the planet

Fair play to them though, they were easy meat a couple of decades ago but are now producing some of the finest cricketers on the planet Starts on the 2nd June, so it’s highly unlikely that any of the IPL players will be available unless they are exempt from the current quarantine period. That will probably affect New Zealand more than ourselves. They’ll be without Williamson, Boult and Jamieson, arguably their three best players at the moment. We’ll be missing Buttler, Bairstow, Woakes and Curran with Stokes also definitely ruled out. Archer and Sibley are currently doubts too. Our batting line up could look quite interesting with no Stokes or Sibley.
