Only just heard this news. Known Gerb for about 30 years, I used his dad’s haulage business for many years, his brother Andy was also involved. Great family and truly saddened by this. RIP Gerb

I've got fond memories of Mart from playing Oatcake Occassional tournaments (2004/5ish?) a long time back at the Academy Dome, full of beans, funny, friendly and lovely bloke who would always buy a pint if he saw me thereafter, have a photo somewhere of him in our team that won one of them!
RIP Mart, awful news.

Sad news indeed. I went to school with Gerb, so have known him for about 40 years!
A good lad, and a proper Stokie.
Thoughts go out to Goat and the rest of his family.
RIP buddy.

Tragic news. Don't know Martin, but obviously very well thought of on here given the posts. He isn't the gent that sings lady in blue, is he?

I have been in Martins company many times & been up close to his wind ups, he could be very cutting but if you could see the twinkle in his eye as he delivered his comments you knew there was no malice to him. he inspired many a lively debate and then sat on the sidelines laughing at us as we got het up at a hypothetical incident. RIP Mart you will be missed

Brilliant send off for the man today, and such a good turnout, a lot in stoke tops / hawaiian shirts (very covid restricted and well organised), went out in style on the back of a flatbed van. Crackers even after hes gone. Rip Mart Keep him up there on his toes, will miss you
