Macclesfield are going to knock everyones average up. Congleton v Macclesfield last season was around 1700. Yeah not sure of their crowds exactly but I presumed it was high and around 1000. Cant wait for the fixtures and I am already planning the away games for Leek especially away to Macc. These derbies are really tasty affairs as was this seasons away game at Kidsgrove! It's rekindled my love for football! Macclesfield's average last season was well over 3,000 That's going to be an interesting league.

That's going to be interesting when they travel around especially to Leek Kidsgrove and Hanley town! Football at this level is usually well behaved but this season has seen a few flare ups at Leek games... I have a feeling it could get worse especially as all our local teams have a good Stoke/Vale following too! Fingers crossed it stays calm!!

I think some of these grounds could be pushing capacity for the Macc games next season. On average, last season they were taking around 400-500 for away games and some of those were quite a long trek. They took over a 1000 to Congleton.

Leeks capacity is 3600, there were 1300 at the playoff a few weeks ago which was their highest attendance for some years but that will be smashed when they come to Leek.

I went to Sheffield Fc for a couple of seasons and the atmosphere was always great. The only exception was a Leek game when it was edgy.
At that level the Billy BigBollocks stuff just seems even more pathetic tbh.
I think alot of folk go to games at that level to get away from all that crap.

Exactly right spit, most folk at this level are descent folk football through and through just wanting to watch football and yes to get away from all that but this season has seen a few unsavory moments... And even supporters ejected! Even the playoff game a few weeks ago the police were drafted in the last 20 minutes or so to segregate the fans with about 6-7 cop cars outside with blue lights and Sirens going off! And as I walked out between all the idiots trying to cause trouble it was obvious these cringe worthy wannabees were all young lads with a barely finished paper round pissed up on their first smell of carling!

I'll go to Kidsgrove and been to Alsager many times in the grounds it's always been fine just that one time, although inside at Holinswood Grove when the Leek fans marched from behind one goal to the other they were being, well bellends but I just laughed them off as bravado although to be fair they made some fucking noise!

Sounds crap. Could be more of that kind of stuff to come as I imagine more and more people will not be able to afford to go games at the higher level. Hopefully not.

It does seem to be spreading into non league and I think part of it is to do with how well policed and surveyed the game is in the Football League. If you cause trouble there, chances are you'll get caught and banned with all the police and CCTV. Down in deepest non league it's a lot more low key and old school. No segregation of the fans, hardly any surveillance, low key policing, cheap ticket prices. I think all of this is starting to attract the kind of people who are that way inclined.

I certainly can't wait for the season to start in this league, I feel for Leek as they have lost in the playoffs several times the last few years and also had the season cancelled when clear at the top...due to covid. I think with Hanley town coming up I shall switch between watching Leek and Hanley as both teams are/have been local to me over the years...

Hanley have been placed in the league with Leek, Kidsgrove, Castle Town and Macclesfield. You've also got Witton Albion, who got relegated, Runcorn Linnets who will take a couple of hundred or so away and 1874 Northwich who average about 300 a game and bigger than Vics now and play at my villages ground, it's going to be chaos when Macc come, there's not much parking here

Average age of their side must be over 30. Hard to be a force in any league like that.

Yeah it's tough, unless you are awash with cash like Macc Town you really have to scout around for good young players that aren't being poached from the leugues above, having said that I think they will be fine as they have enough quality.

Been to both of Macc's games this season, very good team with Nicky Maynard scoring 3 in 2 games. With him upfront they are always going to score plenty of goals at this level.Got some very good players and play a decent style that is great to watch.Getting big crowds and big away followings, can't see anyone stopping them after only 2 games.Going Tuesday for the home game against Kidsgrove.Really getting a buzz from grass roots football this season.

I always feel a bit sorry for the teams in these leagues when they get a team like Macc coming through who are just working their way methodically up through the lower ladder. A team getting crowds of 100 are not going to compete with a club who able to attract 3000 but that's footballing life I suppose! Maynard was scoring goals in League 2 just 18 months back so he's going to fill his boots there.

Just seen that Mark Duffy is playing for Macclesfield as well!!! and Neil Danns who played for Crystal Palace and Leicester. Kidsgrove will do well to match that!

I was there on Tuesday Liam, and whilst Leek and superb for 61 minutes and then it seemed to fall apart a little for us! But having said that Macc looked class, didn't panic even at 1 down still played it out from the back, the sub Macc brought on(number 12?) looked a beast and won everything. Really really good side which you would expect with full time players that could step up at least 2-3 levels. I said on the night that the title is theirs to lose as they were that good...unless Workington or some other team match them of which I doubt will happen. Best I have seen down Leek.

Leek T normally play in blue with white socks. Apparently the ref judged that Leeks’s white socks were too similar in colour to Macc’s pink socks and as Macc hadn’t brought any spare kit he asked Leek to wear their away kit for the match. The result was a somewhat psychedelic spectacle with Macc wearing pink shirts and Leek wearing fluorescent green! 😁 Great game though and as has been said a really good advert for step 4 football. Leek were excellent for an hour but shot themselves in the foot with the dreadful own goal for Macc’s equaliser. Thought Nicky Maynard looked very sharp for Macc and will score loads this season if he stays injury free. A tidy performance in midfield from Mark Duffy as well. Interesting to to see Tre Pemberton (ex Stoke academy) playing for Macc at right back.
