I do quite enjoy when out of Stoke saying where you’re from and you get that foggy recollection of some folk where they say ‘oh yeah… I was round there once, is the centre called err.. was it Hanley?” and you have to sorta say ‘yeah that’s it! it’s sign posted that Hanley is the ‘City Centre’ but technically that was Stoke” And if Hanley do become known, that then they will be known for being a Town with all sign posts pointing to ‘City Centre’ Guess it’s like outsiders turning up in Middleport and perplexed that they can’t find their way to the sea. Or when Vale played some random in the cup and the away fans be fingering along the whole of the Uk coast of an Atlas trying find out how to get there. Great way of confusing and lowering the morale of away supporters - confuse the hell out of them and if ya make it, then we’ll con fiddle ya some more with how the city is just a bunch of towns which you won’t understand through a unique local dialect. 👍🏼 UTMP / COUHT (come on you Hanley town?)

Chuffed for Dave Kevan. Ex neighbour of mine. Career ended by an infection he picked up pre season in Africa, fucked his knee up. I didn't recognize him at first.

Hanley Town currently top of the Midlands premier league, I know its only 2 games in Promotion would put them in The Northern premier league. Playing monday in Whitchurch 20 miles away and a good day out at a very smart ground for this level.

I was about to ask the same. Is someone relatively rich bankrolling this project, or are the retired players just using it as an old boys social/fitness club? It feels like there's someone conducting this with a view of elevating HTFC through the pyramid. I'm not sure stoke-on-trent is big enough for 2 pro clubs, let alone 3. Are we counting the Fail as a pro club?

I went to the game today. Cracking set up and a good standard. If you can’t make a Stoke game then get down there. It’s great. Doing loads of community work regarding men’s mental health. They should be applauded.

Gonna ask again, how can they afford all this? Good question even with the lack of money at league 1 or 2 due to covid you'd think those players and manager are still going to be costing over £125k a year between them if not more which seems a stretch against their income.

A few conspiracy theories about that , I'll put in the caveat allegedly. Colombian marching powder. A few cryptic tweets to that effect on their official Twitter site which have been removed and led to bans.

I think they’d get promoted to the NPL West (Newcastle Town’s league), another promotion would take them into the NPL proper.

Gonna ask again, how can they afford all this? There’s so much money awash in non league at the moment, that this doesn’t surprise me. Although, I’ve heard an official at another local club ask the same question. You could throw millions at a club like the Vale and they’d just tread water. Throw the same money at a club like Hanley Town, you may get multiple promotions, improved stadium, bigger crowds, in effect more bang for your buck. I’ve heard that there’s a club starting from scratch with the aim of getting into the EFL. Possibly, AFC Wimbledon who went from informal trials on Wimbledon Common to six promotions in thirteen years may have turned a few heads. Wimbledon treatment of Kingstonian completely stained the fairytale for me, but that’s another story.

Congleton Town have Richard Duffy, Billy paynter and Tom pope, then you have Kidsgrove athletic who are owned by a millionaire the guy who owns autonet insurance.

There’s a club in Warrington called Rylands that have been bought by Paul Stratford I think it is, Rooney’s agent. And he’s put loads of money into them and they’re on the way up. Tiny club but competing with Warrington Town now and they aren’t very big. Think their aim is the league though eventually.

They had a really good youth academy at one stage, have they moved on? There’s the academy pitch on the same site as the ground. Fenced off and looks like a decent surface. The first team pitch is excellent. It terms of revenue yesterday then I’d estimate there were about 100 people watching. Price to get in £7. There were then folk buying programmes and refreshments. I’d estimate they took in around a grand? Once you’ve paid the players/officials etc there can’t be much left (if anything) There are some small adverts around the pitch along with some in the programme. The ground is sponsored too. Difficult to see how it’s a money making venture though IMHO.
