"We will double our efforts to get her released" said Raab. 2 x zero is still zero................. I think you’re being harsh there. I think he forwarded on the original email with something along the lines of: Hi there, Just following up on the previous email to check if it has been received and if someone could respond please? Best Wishes Dom I reckon he put a kiss at the end of the first email out of habit but thought better of it this time.

Its a shame we can't send the SAS in to rescue her. Because the SAS are a military unit and if things get messy you're going to have a shedload of dead Iranians to explain. It would be far more prudent to use whatever assets the spooks over at the SIS have on the ground instead.

I suppose we could always pay them the money we owe them................... Against international sanctions? We're either trading with countries on an ethical basis or we're not, in which case let's stop dealing with Saudia Arabia. Biden seems to want to go down that route anyway, the moment he does we'll no doubt follow.........

Biden seems to want to go down that route anyway, the moment he does we'll no doubt follow......... So you’re in favour of Britain breaking international agreements

Biden seems to want to go down that route anyway, the moment he does we'll no doubt follow......... So you’re in favour of Britain breaking international agreements Why would us paying a £400m debt that is owed to Iran after they won an arbitration hearing at the International Chambers of Commerce in The Hague break international agreements? Many of the Foreign Office themselves believe we should pay the debt and show a willingness to work with Iran, even if it's through humanitarian channels rather than the government itself........

Its a shame we can't send the SAS in to rescue her. Probably because of the same reason when the Iranians took control of the British tanker which they boarded.

Pre 1979 Iran ordered 1750 Chieftain tanks. The order was never filled and we kept the money after the hostile regime change. I googled it, so could be true ish maybe Blimey that's 228k per tank. Bet yoos couldn't fill the sucker with pecky for that now

That's the thing with sanctions when the other side do what you want you have to release them. I can't wait for the outcry when we do the same with Russia when they withdraw from Ukraine.

I can't wait for the outcry when we do the same with Russia when they withdraw from Ukraine. Iran's was a debt of course. We'll be giving Venezuela the 1.4 billion in gold we owe them next under instruction from America, now that they need oil they'll be recognising the official government not Guaido and wanting to do business again.........

Geo politics is a shitty game and sometimes you just have to suck it up Undoubtedly there’s a promise of Iranian oil involved in this Jeremy Hunt has just been on the radio saying we won't need Iranian oil. But then he said this government holds the Saudis to account about their human rights record so who's to say if that wasn't bollocks as well......

More than likely did a deal for some oil/gas and paid £400m over the asking price. Nice and simple.
