Yep fast attacking exciting players are ten a penny in the bargain basket. Very true, the only ulternative is slow aging ones or donkeys. Got to waste that money some how. What money?

Sorenson should be given another year before we start throwing daggers at him unless he looks woefully inept during that time. He has a contract for another year. Out of interest, how many of those that reject him have actually seen him in a full game?

You think the players he's signed are free? The only players that we've paid any money for are Oakley-Boothe, Thompson, Brown and Doughty. We haven't spent much on them and they're all under 24 with reasonable/good pace.

Only 1 in 8000 youth players in academies make it to full time professionals in the football league.
Put it another way 7,999 fall by the wayside at some point, so Sorenson has progressed over 99.9 % of the way to making it but not there yet.

There was something about those two though despite them not being ready for our first team at the time. Souttar was getting rave reviews from Fleetwood fans and obviously learnt a huge amount while he was there. Campbell was always a natural finisher, but had work to do regarding his stamina. Yes there were people saying they wouldn't be good enough, but there was always a counter argument. I've not seen anything in Sorenson when seeing him play to suggest he's got what it takes, and if he's not getting into MK Dons side at his age it does indicate he's not going to make it at Championship level. He's already made it into a Premier League side - ours - so your example is not really a fair manner of deciding whether a player can do it or not. He wasn't sent out on loan for it to be a trial, but to give him a chance to get some games under his belt . Now loans can work out in all sorts of ways as we have seen many examples of here, some were good, some were bad. He's still under contract here, and for what it's worth, O'Neill spoke highly of him last season and at the start of this. However the signing of Mikel blocked his chances. As our season has turned out, with many injuries to midfielders, we could have used him ourselves. But we won't really find out until he's back. You're not seriously using 1 appearance in an end of season Premier League game to prove he's Championship material !? Honestly, I want every young player we've got to come through and be an asset for us, but sometimes we've not got much other than wishful thinking to go on. Players can always develop and prove you wrong, but if he's not starting regularly for a League One side at 21, I think the chances of him making it here are slim.

You love to see people that can’t wait to see them to fail 🤦♂️ He seemed to be getting in their side and they were doing well. But not been on the bench for the last few. They’ve lost a few I think, so if he isn’t injured hopefully he’ll return. No one loves to see them fail , but most are realistic and know they aren’t quite good enough , you have a strange obsession with youth players thinking you know better than most 🤷♂️

I don't think there's objective evidence to prove it one way or the other. So it's going to be up to the manager if he wants to use him or not. It sounded as if he wanted to in pre season but then Mikel arrived and he changed his mind. Now I'm a Mikel fan, but there's a fair few on here who will question whether that was a wise decision. You don't know what's going on inside the club he's loaned to, but you can look at some of the loan players we've had in recent years. Take Hogan for instance. He never established himself here, but as soon as he left, he kept scoring.

Some sad tales of young players...this one at Newcastle suggests Clubs maybe don't do enough to help www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/56259266

Don't know if that's a fair comment on his progress.
