I'd have Saka and Shaw over Chilwell at the moment.

Saka is more of a wing back though and couldn't play in a back four.

If the first game was tomorrow my starting XI would be: Pope TAA Stones Maguire Shaw Rice Winks Sterling Foden Rashford Kane GK Pope Pickford Henderson RB TAA Trippier (Southgate will take Walker) LB Shaw Saka (Southgate will take Chilwell) CB Stones Maguire Mings Coady (toss up between him and Keane) CM Rice Phillips Winks (Southgate will probs pick Dier) Henderson RW/LW/AM Foden Grealish Mount Sterling Sancho Rashford ST Kane Calvert-Lewin Stones is playing well atm and deserves another chance. Can see the argument for Mings to play over Maguire. I donβt really rate Chilwell at all. Shaw has had a brilliant season and should be starting. Saka can play on the wing as well and gives you more options. Rice is having a cracking season and deserves a shot in there. I really like Winks and think he adds something different to any of the other deeper midfielders in there. He can control a game from deep and dictate the tempo from there. Not a lot of people seem to rate him from what Iβve seen but I do. Thereβs some good players left out of the attackers. We look short of strikers but all of the wingers/midfielders above bar Mount can play up front so I think itβs more than covered. Why would you pick winks? He doesn't get a game at Spurs. Mount is more than capable of playing in that role, Chelsea's best player this season by far.

Saka has very much found his postion on the right wing. The days of him playing lb have long gone, wb at a push perhaps.

For me, Saka has to be in the squad. Young, been really good for the last two seasons, and one of the most versatile options we have. Not 'does a job' versatile either, actually shown quality.

Bayern and Shearer both go for Rice...says it all really! We want to WIN this competition, Rice and winks should be nowhere near the starting 11

Saka has very much found his postion on the right wing. The days of him playing lb have long gone, wb at a push perhaps. Is he going to get on the pitch there up against the competition though. He's impressive - but maybe he's still closer to a squad place as a Jack-of-all-trades, but with an eye potentially on LWB. Agree on LB - don't think he could play there in a back 4. Although there's a lot of competition there with Gareth favourite Chilwell who's played every meaningful game for ages (but isn't playing for Tuchel) - and Shaw who looks to be playing as well as he has since he went to the 2014 World Cup as a bright, young hope! We'll probably find out next month if Southgate is still going to go with the back three, which will shape a lot of things

Saka is more of a wing back though and couldn't play in a back four. Is Gareth going to play a back four? Can understand why he wouldn't given the lack of quality at centre back and defensive midfield (and given our fullbacks are all attacking) but there's simply too much quality at the other end to sacrifice one attacker to go that way

Henderson is injured Not any obvious candidates Henderson should be fit before the Euros start, and will be well rested. At this point in time all selections are somewhat speculative (injuries will clearly impact nearer the time) so why not go for the best rather than the trundling of Rice and Winks. Grealish is currently injured too, but I would have him in my starting 11 (if fit)

My starting XI would be:
Pickford (if Henderson was playing regular Iβd go him. I think Pickford just pips Pope but itβs close)
Trent AA Maguire Stones (great resurgence from him this season) Shaw (you canβt not pick him at the moment. Thought Chilwell would be a shoe in)
Rice Henderson
Rashford Grealish Sterling
Kane
Against poorer teams Iβd maybe drop Rice and play Grealish deeper with perhaps Mount or Maddison coming in. Southgate loves Mount so he will probably start. Not sure he whether he will revive the 3 at the back he did at the 2018 World Cup.
EDIT: Foden possibly gets in in the place off Rashford or Grealish

...add Pickford and Southgate's team probably picks itself.

If Henderson is fit yes would pick him but it's an if. Rice, agree get a trundler. Winks isn't though, moves the ball really well however not convinced he'll prevent goals. Ward Prowse, Phillips are the alternatives can't see anyone else getting a go there, it's a problem.

I'm surprised at the lack of people who'd have Sancho starting. Maybe to do with him being seen less with playing in Germany?

Interchangeable with Rashford,Sancho Madison (maybe) Fullbacks bombing on Shame Rice isn't all that (yet, still young) I've watched an awful lot of Premier League football this season (nowt else to do) and I've been very impressed with Rice, never got the hype originally but this season he's come on leaps and bounds, same with Mount, but yes that would be my front 6 as it stands. Unfortunately the defence and goalkeeper are a major issue. The only 2 certainties for me would be Shaw and Stones.
