He's turned the job down before apparently Celtic can't offer what he wants, Premier League football As for Newcastle can't see that either. When is last time a Premier League club appointed a manager from the Championship? when we were premier league, we appointed lambert

I think the bookie's favourite, John Kennedy will get the job, especially if Celtic's form improves between now and the end of the season.
Kennedy was first team coach at Celtic under Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers between 2014 and 2019, and assistant manager under Neil Lennon since then. He is Celtic through and through, starting there as a youth player. Interestingly, Damien Duff who resigned as assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland last month, became first team coach at Celtic when Kennedy was promoted to assistant manager. I can see him becoming assistant manager if Kennedy gets the main job.

It seems Neil Lennon's sacking is imminent, but the assistant will be caretaker until the end of the season. www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/23/neil-lennon-on-brink-at-celtic-with-john-kennedy-set-to-replace-himWhat then? I can hardly imagine that they haven't taken notice of Michael O'Neill's personal success as Stoke manager. He's going to be high on their list of candidates, and I think the job will be offered to him. This could give MON a sleepless night or two, but I think he will turn the offer down. It's the right job for him at the wrong time. He's bound by loyalty (more than your average manager) to the Stoke owners, moreover he's started something good at Stoke but he hasn't really seen it come to fruition. Maybe when he has served promotion, he will be more approachable, but of course Celtic can't wait for that. Pity he’s resigned really as I thought he was doing a fantastic job up there 😁 Half of Glasgow agree with you.

Celtic will not be the slightest bit interested in MON whats he done to warrant them thinking he could do a job there.

That’s a very fair point unless there recruitment is as poor as ours They may be blinkered by the great job MON did in saving us from oblivion last season and the good start we to this one. The fact we're 10th at the moment masks our dreadful form over the past few months and MON being Northern Irish etc and with international pedigree may have them making an approach. You can but hope anyway. I think MON is a busted flush and if Celtic come in, let him go.

As I posted earlier on the "Crowd turning performance" thread, after tonights game, I do wonder if there is an exit strategy in play here and MON feels that he is failing at Stoke. Unlikely I know but he could be thinking about a future elsewhere and he perhaps no longer feels an obligation to recognise or care how he is perceived by the Stoke support. ("softening us up" or just antagonising us so that the break when he moves to Celtic is easier for everyone concerned to accept)

Did our FA bring in a rule about interviewing a person of colour for every manager role? I know it was discussed as part of the positive action drive. Wonder if the SFA will have anything similar?

That's pretty insulting. If a black manager gets interviewed, you'd think that they'd want to be there on merit rather than as a token.

I couldn’t agree more, but it was at least mentioned, not sure if it came in though.

I don’t know the goings on behind the scenes but it’s a sad state of affairs by all accounts. Edit: apologies if that’s made it a bit heavy, I was reminded of this with the Sol Campbell reference given his apparent feelings on hiring if “BAME” managers.
