For crying out loud! What the hell has happened to our game? Just watched Maguire and Salah do their level best to drag each other down, without dragging each other down in order to earn a free kick. Laughable. Yet the linesperson said there was a foul.
FFS footballers of today, go home, sit down in your lazyboy chairs and put on Leeds v Chelsea Cup final 1970, then watch the replay, played 3 days later.
In not too many years to come, Wenger will have his way that footy becomes a contactless sport just like basketball.
Its rarely enjoyable any more, bar the odd exception.

I used to love a good crunching challenge like Wilko used to dole out.
Football is a broad church and there's room for skill and grace as well as barely disguised aggresiveness bordering on controlled violence. The Pulis year's epitomised this and I think the players and fans loved the underdog nature of our first few seasons

Nail on head, I could not agree more. Salah in particular is really starting to get on my nerves with some of his antics!!

This is a pile of shite guys, Sky build it up all week (not that the sensible amongst us get sucked in) and they churn out this drivel. At least Stoke and Blackburn had a go at each other and resembled a contest, this is dreadful. Too much money at stake.

As soon as a player goes to ground he’s giving a foul. The incident the OP talks about was nothing to do with players going down, it was the ref giving another pointless free kick for nowt

Been saying this for years, but for me one of the biggest problems is the standard of referees. Now if a player doesn’t go down he won’t get the free kick so they cheat when given the slightest touch. If you don’t think refs are bad , just look at the Bournemouth sending off yesterday, disgusting.

Never happened in the past of course and the game is dead apparently because a player dived. Was good while it lasted.

Trying to get a player sent off is horrible. Not a new thing of course, nothing like it was in European cups when I was a kid for example. Should be an immediate card

In the first half Mane was running at Wan Bissaka and got past him in the box, Wan Bissaka lunged in a bit from behind but completely missed Mane. That disgrace of a commentator said its a good job Wan Bissaka missed him because if Mane had felt any contact he would have been justified to go down - WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS. That is just encouraging a player to dive

Been watching this game since the 60's, contact was always allowed, a mans game you see not the spineless snowflake shite you get today. Yes, you will argue its 2021, blah blah blah. Have the game of rugby changed their rules? Nah. Money Money Money, in a rich mans world. Soft as shit, when Franny Lee dived he got punched for the privilege. This is not football.

Shots at goal Exciting end to end stuff from two teams in the top 3 You must be easily pleased mate. Give me Rotherham v Us battling it out any day. It was shocking for a showpiece of PL footy.

Salah seems to have been going down very easily in the penalty area ever since VAR came in. He is getting the decision he wants most of the time too.

The game died for me a few years ago when we went from a decent premier league side to a collective bunch of spineless talentless losers overnight. We’re terrible this season too but it’s a different flavour of tripe this season.

I love those Chelsea v Leeds games......absolute classics and edge of the seat stuff even now. Proper Drama.
Watched both of these about 4 weeks back.
The game today bears no resemblance to Football then. I dislike so many things about modern football.

To much interference with the interpretation of how to apply the rules of the game from the men in suits in the echelons of the game inposed on match officials.
Referees and their assistants are now unable to use their individual personalities to allow games to flow, pick up on cheats and manage the game.
All those who cried out for VHR and moaned about controversial decisions see what you have reaped on us.
Tin hat coming out of the wardrobe as I post. 🤔⚓️

Collins made one of those challenges yesterday straight out of Andy's book, and the Blackburnplayer just got up and played on, like he's supposed to do. They probably would have shook hands, if that hadn't been made illegal too.

The one that makes me scratch my head the most Is the excessive force in a tackle
What the bugger is excessive force if you cleanly win the ball it’s a fair tackle How can you measure excessive

That offside flag delay is fucking sickeningly annoying. Stop it. It’s actually getting dangerous because some players switch off and others keep playing. It could end badly if a striker stops playing and then a defender goes flying into a challenge. It’s mental shit.

VAR means they have to flag late.
As long as VAR is here they have to do it.

The Pulis year's epitomised this and I think the players and fans loved the underdog nature of our first few seasons I’m sure ronaldo (the shit one ) got wilko sent off by rolling around having been hardly touched By contrast I remember somebody (maybe bardsley at Sunderland) running across the pitch scything wilko down. No foul and wilko just got up and carried on
