He’s toss. No technical ability. No football brain. Struggles with simple first touch and basic 10/15 yard passes. Can’t fault his effort etc but anyone can get on there and try. Shit signing.

Whisper it but we actually looked more threatening after Brown replaced Clarke.

Brown only on a few minutes v Reading, yet could have had a Red card, burst into the penalty area and then fell over the ball, gave free kick away for hand ball.
Barnsley must be laughing their heads off for getting £2m for him. Needs to drop a division or two to find his level.

Everything that could go wrong did so yesterday. I think his confidence is starting to take a hit, but he has a strong heart and tries, unlike others. This of course only gets you so far. I think the coaches need to get hold of him and MON needs to play him in a consistent position which is not up front. He seemed to do ok on the right previously and I think even was played on the left opposite Campbell in one game? Give him some time and support here for a while as it’s just a step too far up front for him right now.

I'd honestly, look to loan him back out to League One, at the earliest opportunity, let him find his feet again. He's totally shot at this stage.
When a player loses confidence, quite often, they'll play well within themselves - take no risks, only play simple, etc....but
His zero-grasp of the absolute basics at this stage, is frightening. Touch, control, everything. He looks like he's a PDSL player, being thrust into professional football in an emergency.
The lad we've just bought in from Chester, could do absolutely no worse. I'm not advocating that, but I think Brown's so far off, him, or the lad from the U23s, would be no worse an option.

The transfer policy at SCFC is very bemusing I must say. It seems best represented by the philosophy of 'buy high ( the higher the better no matter how ridiculous) - sell low.. if you even sell at all'. A process which is underpinned by as little actual scouting as possible.

Best player we've ever had. If O'Neill rates him, we are nobody to criticize him as he (our manager) have never made any mistakes in his entire life.

I think the Championship is a step to far for Brown, he'd be more suited to league one or lower...... Which makes it all the more bizarre why we forked out £2M on him!!!

The £2m isn't the problem per se - said the other day, that's ball park for what a player like him costs these days (as amazing and galling as that may be). The actual problem is that it appears that the £2m was our entire season's transfer budget - which meant it needed to be spent very, very widely. So given the glaring hole in our attack for the remainder of the season, it seems that the required wisdom wasn't applied. On the other hand, we might just have ended up with a shit CF for £2m instead? Personally, I liked the lad Wilkes at Hull better and for slightly less money I think but with more about him for the central role if needed. But who knows, he may have been toss also.
