I’ve got very little doubt that the left back will be absolutely fine. The two wingers are a gamble. Obviously, we hope they will make a difference, but looking at their careers so far, you could easily argue that they don’t actually appear to be any better than what we already have.

Like John, I've no idea but I do like the fact that we're bringing young players in to try and do the job. I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing old has-beens letting us down. I can cut the youngsters a lot more slack than the oldies. We have a solid defence so being a bit eccentric myself, I'd probably play Porter up front and see how it goes.  OS. |

Powell up front, I agree with, Mick. As well as skill he's got the height to win a few headers as well. And, as a bonus, he'll probably stay on his feet more when he is in with a good chance of scoring. |

Having a left back will probably have the biggest impact as it enables us to go 433. Fox has had some poor games at left back (I think his best games have been as a left sided centre back) and the new lad on paper at least looks capable of keeping Fox out of the side. Of the three I think he's most likely to be a first team regular.
The right footed Matondo has stated his preferred position is on the left and was played there against Leicester which seems to indicate his role is as an inside forward/inverted winger rather than a traditional winger. This would change the role of the central striker which might mean seeing less of Vokes who would probably benefit more from a traditional winger. Fletcher is the obvious choice as the central striker but it will be interesting to see who play in the interim. Matondo seems in good form and seems up for it but he's playing in a position where a player either shines or fails to make an impression. I think it's 50/50 he'll it and become a first team regular.
Clarke is the one I'm least confident about. The same applies regarding his role in the side as Matondo but he's gone backwards recently and this looks like a punt to regain his early promise. If one of Matondo or Clarke becomes a first team regular we will have done well - if both come off it will be something of a miracle.
If we are changing to a 433 I think we may go backwards rather than forwards in the shot term - the change of shape, on-going rehabilitation of players coming back from injury and the introduction of new players will take team for the team to settle and gel. I don't think we'll know whether we've had a good window or a bad one until at least the end of Feb and I fully expect some up and down performances and O'Neill getting pelters in the next few weeks.

No he's a midfielder and he hasn't been scoring Along with Forrester for sure and some of the others he ought to be loaned out if that's an option |

I can't help looking back at all the exciting promising youngsters who have got our hopes up in the past - Gerry McMahon, Martin Carruthers, Ramadan Sobhi, even Tashan OBooth, there is a long list of disappointments.
Difference is now that we have a management team who have shown some ability to polish youth players - Campbell, Tymon, Souttar.

The left-back should be fine I think. If one of the other two is a hit, we're better off anyway, and their pace will at least give defenders something different to think about if nothing else. I'm excited to see us play again.
