They could be rather invigorating live. Can never, ever, get a train to London without this whirling in my mind. 👌 "Smoke, lingers 'round yer fingers".

They also outed Jimmy Savile but not enough people listened
Panic on the streets of London Panic on the streets of Birmingham I wonder to myself Could life ever be sane again? The Leeds side-streets that you slip down I wonder to myself Hopes may rise on the Grasmere But honey pie, you're not safe here So you run down to the safety of the town But there's panic on the streets of Carlisle Dublin, Dundee, Humberside I wonder to myself Burn down the disco Hang the blessed DJ Because the music that they constantly play It says nothing to me about my life Hang the blessed DJ Because the music they constantly play On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down Provincial towns you jog 'round Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ Hang the DJ,…

My missus is a massive fan.
Musically I think they're mint, just can't stand Morrisey's droning voice, never have done.

I have told the wife I want 'Heaven knows I'm miserable now.' played at my funeral. I’ve told the missus I want “Asleep”. It’s the only way I’ll get anyone crying I reckon..... I'm having The old rugged cross sung twice for the crying. The Smiths on the way out.

The smiths are one of those bands that if you lived them through your teens then fan for life I get it. Probably 5 years too early for me. The only young ones that went back to them after we’re the ones to like them to appear hip and cool Like I said boother will be along in no time to suck cock Not at all. I was only 7 when they broke up so had never heard of them. Got into them when I was about 17 and at that time had listened to a lot of differnet music. By far my favourite band.
I went to a Smyths gig a few years back and the place was a good mix of old and young folk. The Smiths still hold more significance than most bands from years gone by with younger people, than most of the big names you could mention and that is due to the musicianship and the lyrics. I did listen to them first though in my later teenage years, so you may have a point with that!

Wank Boother will be along soon to suck cock Too fucking right. Best band ever. Too young to have seen them, but loved them since I was 8 years old (now 32). Perfect.

I saw them in the early 80's at Victoria Hall, Spear of Destiny were another i liked and saw at the same venue another cracking live gig.

I'll admit, it brought a tear to my eye at Christmas, as a surprise, two of my kids went away, learned Bigmouth between them, in 2 hours, and played it to me on their guitars. Is there a message somewhere?

Love the Smiths.
Funnily enough, much more now than back in the day.
Saw Morrissey live a couple of years ago,

Also lucky enough to see them in 84, with my Mohican hairstyle touting mate chicken. Great gig, God it makes me feel old, 36 years ago, crivens.

My missus is a massive fan. Musically I think they're mint, just can't stand Morrisey's droning voice, never have done. My thoughts too. A great band ruined by Morrissey. I feel similar about Smashing Pumpkins - Billy Corgan's voice is an acquired taste, though I wouldn't go as far as saying he ruined a band. That's all on Morrissey. Someone bought me a Morrissey autobiography for a Secret Santa gift once.

A monumental bell-end these days, but back then, head and shoulders, the driving force. Lucky for both him, and Johnny Marr, as it happens, they hit on something great.

Saw Johnny Marr at a festival in Belgium in 2019. The only time in my entire life I've experienced a bout of double vision. Proper weird.

It went to court, Joyce was very bitter, perhaps understandably, and the judge slated Morrissey for being a tosser. Who knew? 🤣

I will second the sucking of cock sorry. I echo everything you say. Loved them since I was about 8, years old (now 30), so never seen them as a band. Seen Moz about 10/11 times on solo tours and Marr a couple. I'm one of the cringe-able, dick measuring mother fuckers who got The Smiths/Morrissey related shit tattooed all over me, even a portrait of the great man himself and VIVA HATE tattooed on my knuckles.... Yes, I am that much of a twat.

Not The Smiths, but I’ve told the wife I want ‘I’m on fire’ by The Boss as I’m off on my way down the rollers. Great song and surely I’ll get a laugh?

You can't dismiss the sheer talent of song-writing and musicianship evident with The Smiths. And I've always been a Marr fan.
