They were something else live. And ultra prolific , the B sides, non-album singles, radio sessions. Marr is still eminently watchable now, Mozzer has his moments but stupid money to go watch him lately so I haven't. They burnt bright for a very brief period but what a legacy.
And Panic IS Metal Guru , and a beautiful rip-off lol

Now that is impressive!! Daftest decision I ever made, about a month after the Brixton show they played there again as a charity benefit and we decided not to go as "we've only just seen them" and that was their final bloody gig. Give me that time machine eh lol

Didnt they do Victoria Hall performance? Couple of times I remember at the Vic Hall . They also played the North Staffs Poly Canteen down on college road just after this charming man came out, they were brilliant.

Didnt they do Victoria Hall performance? I vaguely remember they played at North Staffs Poly (now North Staffs Uni) in the Students Union in their early days. A mate asked me if I wanted to go and I said no - what a fuckin idiot eh? Absolutely love their stuff now. Great musicians (Andy Rourje is Vert underrated). Fabulous lyrics but as others have said Morrisey just became a bit of a tool. However, same friend invited me to see a band called Oasis in a pub in Stoke (now Weatherspoons). I went to that gig though

Greatest band of all time. Squeezed that greatness into a relatively short space of time.
Provided the soundtrack to my teens, still by far No1 on any of my playlists today.
Got loads of singles, every album, plus some rarities.
Mint.

The smiths are one of those bands that if you lived them through your teens then fan for life I get it. Probably 5 years too early for me.
The only young ones that went back to them after we’re the ones to like them to appear hip and cool
Like I said boother will be along in no time to suck cock

I'll admit, it brought a tear to my eye at Christmas, as a surprise, two of my kids went away, learned Bigmouth between them, in 2 hours, and played it to me on their guitars.

He loves the Eagles as well so it's not about being cool

I know that some people don't like tribute bands but The Smiths Ltd are well worth a watch.Very good.

They could be rather invigorating live. Can never, ever, get a train to London without this whirling in my mind.
