Micky Pej is absolutely right when he says that was the time we should have pushed on by adding even more skill to what we had. Watching us in that ManU game shows just how brilliant Shaq, Arnie and Bojan were when they all played together. The cutting edge and speed of build up was a joy to behold.
OS.

Always thought the best 'Stokealona' goal came vs Everton away. Shaqiri's first goal was pure brilliant from the front three, especially Bojan.
I wonder if Hughes regrets bottling the false 9 formation? Was the start of our downfall...

I think the two wins over the Manchester clubs were better performances If Arnie could have scored 4 v The Shit. The 3.0 win over Spurs a few games before the 6.1 was a bloody good performance too The Arsenal 3-2 would have been right up there if the ref hadn't decided Arsenal were a charity case and the humiliation shouldn't be allowed to continue. That would still be my favourite. I couldn't remember the final score, just that we won and absolutely smashed them in that first half.

90minutes of footballing quality against one of the best sides in the world. Arnautovic was some player. Some of the balls through Shaq was playing though. All those front three were capable of world-class attacking passes.

As I remember it, Pej always seemed to be calling for more British players, and even said we should have an “all-British” defence! Wonder if he’s happier now?!

The game swung one way then the other, but Stoke didn’t give up even when they went 3-2 down. I was also baffled by the dropping of the false nine, but perhaps teams had figured it out and Hughes lost his nerve.

What a performance
Arnautovic, Bojan, Shaqiri
The clip misses the biggest highlight which was Wolly's Cruyff turn in his own defensive zone.
I don't think I can recall another game where the players exuded both class and confidence in the face of such impressive opposition.

4-3 at Everton was up there for me. Winning, drawing, losing, drawing topped off with a 94th minute winner

I wonder if some people still think it was better to go down to the Championship and regroup rather than stay in the worlds top league, with all the money and best players it can attract?.

I hate watching highlights from our time in the prem with games like this and the liverpool game. Makes me so angry and sad that we've gone from that to the shit we see now, like WTF even happened? Its still criminal that we changed nothing backroom wise just manager after managers heads rolling. i know what you mean but ......onwards and upwards to a new era

It wouldn’t have been unreasonable to say that we could’ve won that Man City game by 4 goals. still dont know how shaqiri missed that one at the end

Me personally, it'll always be the 6-1 win over Liverpool.
The whole day was perfect. Starting off singing karaoke at 10am in Greenhoff's Bar certainly set the tempo.

Which game marked the turning point from Stokealona into the start of our decline- the first leg of the Cup semi? Or was it more of a gradual thing as we did play well in the 2nd leg at Anfield? We were well on the way down the shitter by then but Fletcher's goal at Watford which kept Hughes his job was pivotal and probably the death knell. It was still eminently 'saveable' by then with the right appointment but the family bottled it sadly.

What a performance that was. The liverpool one edges it for me, but this a close 2nd. The arsenal match could have eclipsed them all if the ref hadn’t robbed us from going 4 up as they had completely gone. I still say nobody would have beaten us down here when we were in that form

It’s obvious.
The decline started we swapped NB for Warrior.

It’s obvious. The decline started we swapped NB for Warrior. That’s funny because we had Warrior for one season then went to New Balance because they owned Warrior, which at the time they were using for football kits, and they decided to phase Warrior out! Think you meant when we went to Macron, but do like the uniqueness of their kits

The vardy red card one I reckon another match against Leicester: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35331047Shawcross' injury seemed to be around the time Hughes lost faith in playing Bojan and things were never quite the same again.

That would still be my favourite. I couldn't remember the final score, just that we won and absolutely smashed them in that first half. I have an Arsenal mate who texted me at 1 or 2 nil simply saying "this could be six". And only a poor refereeing decision stopped it from being so. I was sitting on a coach in Quebec getting texted by a Liverpool fan who said we were terrifying. Absolutely uncontrollable, fluid movement all over the front and scoring for fun. I couldn't believe it when I saw the recording and that shithouse ref denied Bojan the 4th. If that had been allowed it would have been a bigger win than the Liverpool game for sure. Their heads had gone.

It wasn’t poor ref decision he got it spot on, Walters was in an offside position in front of the goalie when the shot came in. How they came to this decision though I will never know as it took me at least 6 looks at slow motion replays to pick it out, I’m sure we got done here by an early version of var, as it must of been a good minute before it was disallowed.

We could have beaten Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Spurs by 6 that season. Shame we only managed it with one.
