As chartwells and other suppliers are creating inadequate free school meal boxes at a cost of nearly £11 + to the tax payer my challenge is this using your knowledge of supermarkets could you come up with a box for €that is healthy
I reacon I could go even 1 step further and say I could do one for 2 weeks for £5 that's 10 meals
Have a go I'll post mine later

Ok same thing. Been happening for ever regardless of party in government About time it changed then don't you think? Of course every contract should have more scrutiny. From the ridiculous PFIs under Blair to the PPE under Boris and everything in between. Cheaper is not always better but there needs to be better scrutiny and accountability

But it’s not the government on this occasions chartewell and there ilk are employed by schools and local councils The main problem is these companies have a contract to supply meals to these schools which is why all schools can’t go straight over to vouchers

But it’s not the government on this occasions chartewell and there ilk are employed by schools and local councils The main problem is these companies have a contract to supply meals to these schools which is why all schools can’t go straight over to vouchers Last few days I have been delivering school meals to kids that usually get free meals, a bit different to the half term scenario, as the schools are actually open, the stuff I have been delivering is all prepared at the school, usually a sarnie, a pack of fruit, a cookie and a carton of juice, bit of variation each day, but all looks fairly decent, and vegan options also prepared. One thing that proper pisses me off though is when I see what I delivered yesterday still on the doorstep, as I knock the door, leave the bag on the doorstep and rarely see anyone. But gotta say, the folk that I do see are proper grateful and it does make a difference.

Now I’m not saying 70p Morrisons whole meal bread is healthy but it’s a lot more substantial.
