I am pretty sure Clarke will start. He should as well. Not only is he a nippy & tricky wide player, he is a good footballer as well and will help with our ball retention.

Bursik Collins Souttar Chester Norrington Mikel Allen Clucas Clarke Powell Rabbi That's the team I would play. If it's too soon for Clarke, then Brown instead. I think it will be too soon for Clarke would play Cousins or Thompson alongside Mikel and push Clucas and Allen forward to form a three with Matondo behind Powell.

Anyone bought the official stream yet? It specifically says that you will get Blackburn commentary. I know Nige's powers are on the wane but I'd still rather get Radio Stoke. Is this a new thing now? The BBC have banned local reporters from travelling to away games so hence the Blackburn commentary. Some local radio stations are trialing commentating on live streams But the BBC sent Lineker, Wright and shearer from London to Merseyside on 2 consecutive days Priceless

I think some people will find out just how good Nige actually is. These commentators from other stations are generally rubbish.

He's only had one or two training sessions with the boys. There's a lot of team automatisms he will know nothing about. MON doesn't tend to throw players in off the street in a manner of saying . He likes to ease them in.

In loads of matches, think some 0-0 borefest against Coventry, Rotheram or whoever, Nige's mixing up the players' names or going off on a 'Jason and The Argonauts' tangent is the only entertainment we get in 90 minutes. I, for one, would miss him.

Think we will need 2 defensive midfield players being disciplined, can't see Rabbi offering a great deal defensively.

Time to test our new merchandise. With 20 games left, we have to start winning. Play 4-3-2-1 - Davies (Bursik); Souttar, Collins, Norrington, Smith; Cousins, Allen, Thompson; Rabbi, Clarke, Brown (if Fletcher is out).

Assuming Fletcher is injured I'm going for Vokes up front - it would be a bit stupid to bring in players who can cross and not play Vokes or Fletcher. I think Brown will get the right wing for now and the left will be between Clark and Matondo whoever's looked best in training.
Midfield three I'm going with JOM, Allen and Powell, defence Collins, Souttar, Chester and the new left back. Bursik obviously in goal.
As I write this though I remember how much MON has praised Powell's aerial ability just lately but I think I'll stick with Vokes today for his defensive abilities as well. I'm a bit worried about Blackburn as I seem to remember they played us off the park after we scored an early goal a month or two ago.
Also MON does like a dead ball specialist so perhaps he'll put Clucas/Thompson on the left instead of Brown on the right and play Matondo on the right.

Blackburn 1 Stoke 2 Vokes, Allen. I wouldn't even let Vokes on the bus again! Edit for those who think that he'll convert all these crosses.....he can't head the ball for toffee!

I think it's a tough game with possibly new players being integrated. Blackburn are a settled side, who have been together a while now. It's a tough ask to expect a big transformation from us, I would take a draw with the signs of better things to come.

So...we'd have stood a better chance of winning if we didn't bring in new players...?

What kind of back four is that??? 6ft9 Souttar at rb, our new lb in central defence, and our regular rb at lb. Davies back in the team after one day of training after being out for several months...? I'll grant you with MON we do have previous when it comes to playing the only left back out of position, but...if you have your way, I could see Blackburn win by 6 goals...or more! And I haven't even started with a midfield that leaves out Clucas and Powell...
