Which comes first , the chicken or the egg ?
It could be MoN ,has become obsessed with clean sheets?
Or it could be ...he knows this team hasn't got lots of goals in it , and their only hope of a win ( or even a draw ), is to keep a clean sheet ?
In which case , he is simply realistic , rather than obsessive
We are not going up without our first choice attack of ... Powell Fletcher Campbell ...that's a fact
Is this actually MoN's fault ?
I am not sure it is .

Honestly I wouldn’t say he’s done a remarkable job, more along the lines of getting out the squad where they should be, it’s a bog standard limited squad of players albeit there’s a number of up and coming players who look promising who should be paired with good nurturing type older players, not the likes of Vokes and Batth.
We have to remember there’s nothing whatsoever to fear in this league yet ONeil approaches every single game as if we’re up against Premier League opposition, it’s farcical it really is.
He’s steadied the ship that’s about it no more no less.

Never thought for one moment we would make the play offs we are just not good enough. I can see us ending up below half way this season. I think you may not be far off with that prediction

My opinion is this the longer a team is in this or any league it gets harder to get promoted, ive watched Stoke for well over 50 years and i don't see them getting promoted for a good many years to come, again my view is this you need 3 things to work together to get you promoted 1st a good manager i don't class MON as good in saying that Pulis wasn't that good either but he had other things on his side that brings me to 2nd thing, you need at least 3 player's who can play regularly in a division above you and i don't mean loans Pulis had those and on the evidence of MON signings that's where they differ and 3rd you need a chairman or board who are ambitious unfortunately the Coates family are not that any longer (not blaming them), normally it's new blood that brings that, can you honestly say they would now be prepared to put in over 80 million to get their and stay i don't think so. I realise this may seem negative but i class it as realistic

The play-offs would be brilliant but hand on heart we are not ready as a club to compete in the premier league at the moment. There is still alot of improvement needed to compete in the division above.

We still have 7 or more players whose combined transfer value is way above 50M not playing or contributing to the team. Until we sort out these transfers, then the team will tread water and playoffs will be an outside chance. All our players must be playing for us and the fact we still have Woods, Afobe and Ince on the books shows we've only touched the surface of shifting the deadwood. It's also a concern there's no news regarding Wimmer or Bauer, who seem to be happy bumming around in the U23s. The team yesterday didn't seem competitive at-all and I'm sure MKDons would have given us a tough game, let alone high-flying Leicester. Thinking about it I'm happy we managed to bag early doors points as I think we will struggle in this second period.

Unfortunately FFP Rules keep changing especially under the covid climate and will probably change again so its difficult to read up on the present rules especially where club's are reporting that their potential loss of future earnings unless you know more about the subject

We wasted a run of easier fixtures with some of the most negative displays we’ve seen since Rowett. I tend to agree, but in defence of the manager, if you were left with Vokes as your only out-and-out forward, you can understand why he'd want to go ultra-cautious. He's shit-scared to go a goal down, let alone two. It's not a great base to work & plan from. The horrendous injuries we've had have impacted, even Gregory being fit would improve us quite a bit up-top. We are where we are, relying largely on a striker that probably wouldn't get a start, in most Championship sides. If his name was Dave Smith, he'd be playing at Burton Albion, or somewhere.

I can see us being in the wilderness for many years unless changes are made.

We need to change our game and maybe get back to basics. Stop thinking about wing backs and building from the back. The main idea is to score and we will only score if we get into scoring positions. Our current midfield is dreadfully slow and with a striker like Vokes, leading the line, ... we may as well not play. Perhaps, the only way to try get to the playoffs is to park the bus, stack the defence and play as if we had Peter Crouch alone upfront. I wanna see our defence keep hoofing the ball into the other side's penalty box, not stringing unnecessary pretty passes in the middle before launching an attack. Can Rory and Ryan help the team out? They know how it works ......

Bursik Souttar Collins Chester Allen Clucas Campbell Fletcher are on a par with Simo Shawcross Cort Delap Lawrence Cresswell Mama and Fuller. (I’ve left Whelan our as he hadn’t signed by this point in Jan) 3. That comment is fucking bonkers. Fuck me. Most expensive team in the history of any second division anywhere in the world. He’s spent more on bad players but no one has even given more to SCFC than the Coates family. Do you really think he’d be opening the wallet in Jan if we were giving up on promotion?

There are no goals in the team.
Every player should do at least one of these things: - score goals - make goals - stop goals
We’ve got too many players who don’t do any of the above.

2 points away they are defiantly getting away from us? Was thinking more about our trajectory. We were briefly top or 2nd top I don't remember which when we led against Cardiff. We're now 12 points adrift. For sure the play-offs have not yet gone but I'm struggling to see where the next goal is coming from.
