Back to the day job.
I just reviewed the Championship Table, our form, our fit players and the forthcoming fixtures and that's the conclusion I have reached.
We're bang average for this division. We'll be plying our trade in the Championship again next season.

The moment Ty was out we were fucked IMO. Hard to see us deserving a spot now, but we're still on the up overall.

We have a better record against top-half teams than bottom half if you're implying our upcoming fixtures are against tough teams.
We're still in with a great shot of the playoffs, especially if a good forward signing can be pulled out of the bag. Add a left-back too? Even better!
Form can be very temporary in the Championship, so as long as we're there or thereabouts with a few games to go, I fancy us.

It's all down to next few weeks. If we can recruite well I see no reason why we can't.

MON knows what we need it's a case of who we can ship out before we can bring in.Hope to see the last of Ince,McClean,Bauer,Wimmer and possibly Vokes.

It's too soon for promotion.
This campaign is a consolidation year for MON to bed in properly, get the team well drilled, identify what he needs etc.
It's such a gargantuan task doing the total overhaul and it's nowhere near done yet. The plummet has been arrested and we've gained some stability and upward momentum.
That's more than good enough for this year given how long we've been beyond shit for.

We wasted a run of easier fixtures with some of the most negative displays we’ve seen since Rowett.

We seem to have enough fit personnel (apart from a Lb and Striker) to play what seems to be our best 11 in 4-3-3/4-3-1-2:
Bursik Collins Shawcross Souttar (Fox) Allen Obi Clucas Powell (Fletcher) (Campbell)
So 8 of those are fit. If we recruited to the gaps* we could still finish top 6
*And offload the money launderers: Ince Vokes Wimmer Bauer
And we seem to have some reasonable cover in:
Chester Baath Cousins TashOB Tymon Brown Thompson McClean Verlinden Goalies when fit
But you wouldn’t want more than a couple of those in that starting 11 at once.

Recent form .. and it's been a long recent, would suggest you're right. One can only remain hopeful of better right now.

Never thought for one moment we would make the play offs we are just not good enough. I can see us ending up below half way this season.

Punching well above our weight given the utter dross on the pitch and in that I totally blame the manager by setting up from the off not to concede at all cost, inviting pressure against a defence he knows is shocking and facing the mighty giants in this league such as the Barnsleys.

I think all things considered, we have done well to be in the position we are. By and large we haven't played well all season, yet managed to accumulate points. At present unless we find a way to score goals we are going to slide down the table. It simply has to be addressed sooner rather than later..We can't wait for Fletcher to return...

Or we've just had our poor run for the season and will kick on with a few players in to refresh a tired squad?
Time will tell I guess......

We are bang average though and were before a ball was kicked in terms of quality players. Which is why MON is doing an outstanding job and deserves some backing where possible.
He will have done a great job if he can get us somewhere near mid-table and more importantly avoid any battles in the relegation zone.
It is a time of rebuild and it is going to be a slow process - we are miles away from a team that has genuine top 6 ambitions - let's get to 50pts first and take it from there.

This season IS our only hope of going up. With the quality of the teams around the bottom of the PL who will come down it will be even harder next season. We need go balls out this transfer window and push for promotion this season. Looking at the table and how poor we've been we can easily turn it around with more attacking threat and more confidence.

It all depends on whether this board back the manager so he can make a couple of signings. Shitting themselves over FFP isn't good enough, promotion is there this season if we want it.

That defence that got more clean sheets than any team in the country in 2020?

Yesterday’s game clearly showed that we are far of the standard to be anything other than battered if we went up this season.

We are not ready to go up , so there is no point going up
Just a matter of bringing through as many young players as we can and Improving them for a push next year
Bursik , Collins, souttar , Campbell , all done great
Nobody knows why verlinden not given a chance ? With Ince vokes etc not interested , a total mystery
We need to try and bring through brown , verlinden and any good young players we can get hold off this month
And if they are not good enough, then back to the drawing board in the summer.

The trouble is our manager has become obsessed with clean sheets, and thought we could manage to score one goal to win games... wrong, how long have we been just outside the top six,as we have been reminded for a while now, it's certainly not our performances that are keeping us there, let's get real, we are a mid table team, with an average squad, these asperations for going up are a joke !!

After a season when we almost got relegated, having the luxury of even worrying about the play-offs is fine by me.
Most of us knew that as soon as Campbell got injured, it was game over. unless we bring in someone who can score goals (easier said than done) then this season will be one of consolidation.

It beggars belief that people cannot see this. I say "beggars belief". What I really mean is "entirely predictable". Our decline was of biblical proportions. MoN has done an incredible job. The decline may - just may - have been arrested. Anything beyond comfortably avoiding relegation this season is a bonus. That's an opinion, btw, and people will take a view as to whether it's unreasonably pessimistic, or a realistic reflection of the history of the club.
