Commiserations to all Marine fans this weekend. The thought of your team playing a game of that magnitude and not being able to be there is awful. I understand there are other, way more important things than a nogger game but that’s the sort of occasion that is supposed to lift you away from the everyday of life. I was lucky enough to be a Vicks fan during their (our?) world famous, legendary FA Cup run. I am sure we all know how it ends but, I guess COYMM.(If you know a Marine fan, hug them from me) www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/magic-marine-spurs-fa-cup

Marine's manager for donkeys years was Roly Howard. They regularly used to reach the FA Cup first round and the story every year was the fact Roly Howard was Kenny Dalglishes window cleaner.

Sad thing is both clubs pull around 200 fans each, so you'd think a combined team could pull 400 minimum. The other issue is finding a new ground. They had 2 and lost them both.

I have a soft spot for Marine.
Marine’s ground is in College Road, Crosby.
Between 1971-73 I used to live in College Road North and used to cycle past their ground on the way to school.
I went to watch them once, a 0-3 defeat to Enfield in the FA Cup.

Nice piece on either the news or the One Show last night about the game. Their star striker is a bin man (normally it’s a postie on these type of FA cup reports 😂) who seemed a really good lad. They had numbers on the fences surrounding the pitch so depending upon where the ball went over, you could tell which house you had to knock on to get the ball back. A great report into the classic “this is what the FA cup is about”

'Crosby, thrills and cash' - the headline on page 1 of the sports section in 'Fhe Guardian' today. Pretty inventive, I think.
For those of you who are baffled by the headline, Marine play in Crosby and.... ask your (grand)parents!

If they win, the headline, reflecting Spurs' humiliation, might be: Crosby, Thrills, Cash - and Stung. Now, where's that coat?

As 1874 rent at my local teams ground and our running club is based there, I get to speak to the stadium gang. 1874 are looking to move to the new Cheshire FA set up in Winsford in a couple of years, and I think Vics may move into renting again at ours, it's costing them a fair few bob at Witton's ground. yes, stupid that they don't re-join with the old chairman gone and behind bars, could even merge with Witton and have a decent team in the town that could challenge back to the conference.

I think if they both joined together they would get around 300 As the are probably around 50 ish from either side who through many reasons some legit some imaginary will have sod all to do with the other side Sadly but then that’s football

The absolute best ITK ever. In commentary even before kick off I have to wonder though. Could Roly have managed a pair of French windows on a cold wet windy night in Stoke?
