That’s what I was thinking with Celtic being the obvious choice with his background. Can't see that if we're interested He means McLean to Celtic

This signing would show to me MON sees this season (possibly rightly so) as one to get good young players into the squad ahead of getting promoted.
Next season could be very good for us, even after our squad has been decimated from "better" players leaving.

Pacy player and hamstrings.
Anyone mention Mark Chamberlain yet?

£650000 is six figures, where have the Sentinel got their 7 figures from? The £ sign isn't a figure. Don't know much about this lad but seems like the sort of player we should be looking at to rebuild our squad for a push at the play -off this season and maybe more next season. Gouranga.

Charlton won't be turning down 600k for a lad with only 30 first team appearances

Pacy player and hamstrings. Anyone mention Mark Chamberlain yet? Hamstring surgery is much better than these days thankfully. Remember Michael Owen saying that when he injured his he literally lost a hamstring tendon for the rest of his career which seriously impacted his pace and led to loads of further muscle injuries. Kane had the same injury but they can now repair it with surgery. Having said that, Kane certainly hasn’t got any quicker since coming back from his so got to have some concerns over it. Doughty is 20 though and got to hope with the right rehab he’ll be able to make a full recovery.

Messaged a mate who's a charlton fan earlier he says he is lightning quick and has a decent end product can play any where on the left and would be a great buy

This is interesting. With Rabbi and Doughty are we signing two orthodox wingers or two wing backs so that we can play that system properly? If Rabbi is orthodox can he play on Saturdays, and if so, where will he keep his massive furry hat?

Charlton won't be turning down 600k for a lad with only 30 first team appearances They will need to work out what compensation they could expect if Celtic signed him this month on a pre contract deal. Then add on what they think the benefit of having him for half a season is he went to Celtic in the summer (not much if he is recovering from injury). Then they will probably sell to the highest bid above this figure. Our biggest problem in landing him is likely to be the possibility of being outbid by other English clubs or (possibly) if Alfie would regard Celtic as his dream move!

Yes surely it would only take a lower prem team to see potential and chuck £2m at it......we need him to want to come to us really and see the way to be playing regularly?

Sadly I think our interest has come to light too early in the window and we are likely to be outbid, that said, he and the other links emerging, suggest we are targeting the sort of players we should be moving forward.

Not a shot monster. An average of three shots every four 90 minute games. Mostly speculative pot shots from the left hand corner of the box, but also a couple big chances and a 1 on 1. 0.12 xG per 90 for Charlton in the Championship. More a supplier, 0.21 expected assists per 90 & nearly 5 crosses per 90.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-alfie-doughty-4859750Stoke have submitted a package deal worth seven figures to Charlton, who could lose him for next to nothing to a team outside England because his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Doughty is 21 and his been catching the eye because he can catch flies.
A discussion on Sky Sports earlier this season suggested he was the fastest player in the EFL. Reports have labelled him everything from "blisteringly fast" to "a whirlwind" - and he likes to run with the ball at his feet - although a nasty hamstring injury means he is currently sidelined until at least the end of January.

Messaged a mate who's a charlton fan earlier he says he is lightning quick and has a decent end product can play any where on the left and would be a great buy Dito I did likewise. Same response but my mate reckons he's sidelined for another month or so yet so if that's the case he may not be as useful to us from the off which is what I'm guessing we would be requiring.

Swap is a great idea but we're then factoring in a) Lindsey wants to go there And B) they can afford to pay him what he wants.

Nothing against him, but he just wanted to better himself and play in the Premier League. Well he did, only in another country. Celtic of course and in something called the Scottish Premier League.

But from our point of view, it would probably make more sense to send them Verlinden. Decent League 1 side and he'll get game time there.

Something that offers better FFP value would be better for us that offsets his cost. If Verlinden was off I'd rather he went to Shrewsbury and Lindsay was shifted.
