You can tell that Grealish really, really rates him. Sidibe-esque goal ratio could be a problem though. Hope Grealish isn't driving him up here. Be like a ride on the dodgem's

Re FFP I wonder if you can do a deal re a loan with option to buy or pay an extra amount the following season if you get promoted? I’m kind of wondering if you can structure something to avoid breaching FFP but gets you the better player?
If you don’t get promotion the club has to broach later by sales or letting players go? Not ideal in anyway but could give you the chance to get quality for a short period to have a tilt at promotion given this is our last parachute year?
Thoughts?

Neither of these two fit the bill for me unless MON is planning to play Matondo left wing and Obafemi right wing. Still leaves us a massive CF hole in the middle and involves us changing the way we play without a recognised LB I'm not sure how these could both play at the same time, they are too similar.
For that reason I'm out.

Powell, Allen, Clucas all possibilities. Matondo is unproven as you say but sounds promising. Still we need a striker that can score. His record is abysmal. If there’s a striker who scores everybody is after them and they cost huge sums of money We have to hope we hit on one ....That’s the reality

I'd prefer Obafemi Martins.

Do we think any of our more established players will leave in January, say Clucas, Allen etc?. No

Are we 100% certain he hadn't signed for us minutes before his injury?

Oh for Fuxache. I was reading through the thread until the last post. Typical Oatcake.

She could brew up more goals than our current pair of duffers! She isn’t as fast as you think and, with that dodgy back wheel on her trolly, tends to always cut inside. She's shit in the league but great when it comes to the cups. An enigma.

I would and have always preferred a goalscorer in addition to the winger we've allegedly already signed. Obafemi more winger than striker?.

Ive mentioned him before, but Louie Barry would be my suggestion if Villa would loan him out, could potentially be a master stroke of a signing. He's 17 & Can play as striker or winger & whilst being a raw talent, definitely knows where the net is. 7x goals in 10 for England U16's, 4x goals in 7 for England U17's & currently had 6x goals in 9 for Villa U23's this season after 1 in 1 for them last season. He's had a 10yr grounding at WBA with a couple of seasons training at Barcelona. Worth a punt to fill the Campbell injury void until May.. Its highly unlikely Villa would be wanting to sell Barry anytime soon as they rate him so highly, but a loan move whilst helping us out & being of benefit to the player, would allow Villa to monitor his progress in competitive matches with a view to him stepping up to their matchday squad next season.

He's class in all fairness. I’m sure he is, but to suggest with any seriousness that MON would look to a 17 year old wunderkid to solve our problems is a bit bonkers.

A young player getting first team football who is definitely good enough and hungry for first team action is more along the lines I'd like to see us going down than some early 30's journeyman who isn't good enough to get into a first team of their current club and is coming to us to purely pass the time. We've had enough of them in our time. That's a bigger gamble in my eyes. Vokes & Gregory are prime examples, came to us with experience and known as a goal getters but have sadly failed to deliver nor impress. Could we really afford to go down that route once more? Barry is and has the potential to go all the way to the top, from what I've seen and heard he could well be an asset to us. It's questionable Villa will even release him on a loan as he's that highly thought of & is going to be on the verge of breaking through into their first team any time soon.

I can't see Rory allowing his son to come, as a Father it's very difficult to be objective and it could cause conflict between coach and manager

www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-fans-speak-out-19564180Sunny Chalal: "The guy needs a run of games to build the confidence and get some goals. Wesley back at the end of the month, this could be a huge benefit to Davis long term." Stuart Plant: "If we intend to keep KD long term we need to ensure the club he goes to is a good fit. Watching Stoke v B'mouth, they were shocking going forward, hoofing it aimlessly & relying on set pieces. Keinan is a big lad but likes it into feet. Other better options in Championship." Dan Jukes: "Look what a decent loan did for Tammy. About the same age." Ben Davis: "Obviously we have something lined up. We aren't silly enough too let Keinan go on loan and not replace him." Fake: "Won't happen unless we sign a striker, which I doubt." Alex: "Means we're in for a striker, good move for Davis though. He won't cut it at this level without further development." Chris AVFC: "Only way that would happen is if we bring in another striker, would be a good move for him on loan to get some game time. Only young and amazing hold up play if he can start finding the net and keep working on hes finishing could be a brilliant player." The AVFC faithful: "Would let him go on loan if we had more striker options, he was playing at Old Trafford few days back!" Jen: "This would be good for him and us. We need to sign a back up striker though."

Wesley has been out for 12 months and sounds like he had a horrible knee injury. Not sure Villa would be comfortable with him starting in the event of a Watkins injury. Maybe they have someone else lined up to come in though.

Hark at the Villa purists. Yes at times we go long, diagonal to the left on the major of occasions, but we also play through the lines, especially when Fletcher is fit and firing.
