A decent covering in Penkhull.
Pissing me off that my neighbours don't have to go to work though. Usually it's me shovelling the cul de sac and half of Chamberlain Avenue to get out myself that allows them to get out easily enough after they've lain in bed and let me sort it out.
The one day I don't have to bother and every other twat is off work.
Totally against the ethos of the Christmas season, and this year in general, but fuck me I'd have enjoyed watching them struggle in and out.
Getting behind the wheel of a car up here when it's like this is how I imagine Eddie Edwards felt at the top of the slope in Montreal.

There's a few times I've been up Penkhull and headed downhill towards Stoke & often wondered what it would be like in snowy conditions. Your last paragraph has confirmed my thought process on it perfectly!

Normally do a Hartshill/Penkhull/Stoke pub crawl on the 28th every year. Not sure I could face that bank down to The Commercial today after 10 pints😬

There's a few times I've been up Penkhull and headed downhill towards Stoke & often wondered what it would be like in snowy conditions. Your last paragraph has confirmed my thought process on it perfectly! I used to work right at the bottom of Chamberlain Avenue, I never had the opportunity but used to threaten to go to work on a sledge if we had a day like today. When our office was in Stoke I had to cancel a visit to a customer as you couldn't get out safely. On my walk down to work I photographed the police car stationed at the junction of Penkhull bank and Boon Avenue preventing anyone being daft enough to drive. I had to do this to prove it to my disbelieving boss. Once you're used to it,it isn't the getting out that's the problem so much its the getting back up. Most of that is down to other peoples unpreparedness and the lack of community action in keeping the roads clear. I got caught in the 'beast from the east' the other year in Keswick. It was an amazing experience up there but what impressed most was their ability to keep the roads open. Driving back down over Shap though on the Saturday past all the still abandoned trucks and cars was like a scene from Mad Max.

SNOW!? Not here in sunny Somerset. But this County was originally so called because of its origins as "the land of the Summer People."
(It kept its name because of the habit of Londoners for escaping the City at the slightest opportunity and heading West, usually down the A303, known as the "Highway to the Sun.")
I know. I probably won't be laughing later when I'm helping the neighbours hunt for lost Sheep in the snowdrifts!
Edit: Despite the clear absence of winter at present, down here they still speak of the Great Freeze of 1962, when they claim to have "walked to work across the Telegraph Poles!"

Coming down steady in gods country... Longton Being an old Longtonian myself I cant help but be reminded of Chuck Pawlawniuk's Fight Club and the idea that God is like a father who never wanted us and couldn't give a shit - sums up Longton. Shame. Some really decent salt of the earth folk there but it's been allowed to decay and fester Ps Snow in Stone and Shropshire borders

It didn't turn out as bad as predicted thankfully, I'm a stones throw away from the estuary in Aberdovey and it blew in west to east for about 15 minutes tops. Tops of the hills have got a covering this morning and it's glorious sunshine here now. Midweek is looking a bit dodgy though. Just heard on the radio about Jack knifed lorries etc on the D road, sounds rough.
